"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated,"- Amendment the Fourth, Ratified 12/15/1791, United States Constitution
What I meant was that any "rotections" the government gives you are simply a ruse for the true nature that lies beneath.
Which is a fact - all governments use propaganda like that.
Also, the USA PATRIOT Act isn't, by any means, unreasonable.
As I've said before they've used such spy networks to spy on things that are out of the original goals. By presenting such arbitrary power to the government you present a strong potential for its misuse.
Potential to find those who oppose the government? Of course they'll use it like that. It's how they stay in power.
Why does a republic fail? Because the elected officials really don't answer to the people - they answer to the greenback. This is the way government will always work, no matter what form it's in. It's simply the way human society is structured - a select few will always control the power.

A government with little power to abuse doesn't need propaganda for people to falsely trust it.

It is very unreasonable, it listens in on the conversations of millions of Americans, without evidence that they are committing crimes, in fact the vast, vast majority aren't. Second:
"and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."
it needs a warrant as the second half of the fourth amendment says. Don't give the BS you said earlier that "warrants take weeks to get," police officers if they see suspicious behavior can call in and get a warrant in less than 15 minutes, and in cases of emergency they don't always need them (i.e. Little Tommy runs up to Officer Joe and says, "Billy has a gun in his backpack, I saw it!" Then Officer Joe may search Billy's backpack immediately out of the situation's urgency, that Billy may pull it out at any minute. A warrant for searching a criminal's house or a reading someone's old emails isn't as urgent, and needs a warrant.).

Remove the power, remove the abuse.

If we can take the vast majority of the power out of the government's hands, then it won't have power to be tossed around at the will of the highest bidder, elected officials will have little power to do what a wealthy corporation wants. The people will have freedom and would be very reluctant to give it back up, the government should remain with little power if we could successfully make it minarchist.

If we take away the government, a new one will take its place. The people, with little left to restrain them, will create their own laws and rules, and thusly establish a new order.
Why do anarchists fail to see that a lack of government will not work in human society? I've already admitted the fatal flaws in fascism - people are less logical and more emotional. Is it not plain to you that those same flaws are why we must have SOME government?
You know, i have put in my fair share to this thread, and as i watch other people fight, i have realized something. There is an obvious candidate, that i think both parties will agree should be President. He will solve all the problems, and please everyone truthfully, and bring pece to the parties. His name is:
Oops.My little BB code blunder made my comment lost it's dramatic feel (if it had any :P). So i am going to redo it while apologizing for the double post, and you will ignore the last comment and pay attention to this one (this is yet another reason why an edit comment option should be made, i realized my mistake right as i hit "Post YourReply).

Well, guys, there are many sides to this. But, I support Obama. He really wants to help us, recycle, less global warming, and such. And he will end the war in Iraq. I really do not understand why Bush sent us into Iraq, and if McCain is elected, he will want to continue this useless war...
Roadripper has a good point, even though Im more worried about the energy crisis, a pointless war is pointless deaths. Each death effects the whole nation. (Like Jim knows Joe who knows John who knows Jake, ect.)
The argument that "if you having nothing to hide, then don't worry about eavesdropping" is short sighted and ignorant. Rethink your opinions if you believe such things.
The "war" in Iraq will not end for a very long time. We are not trying to help them. We just wanted to gain territory. Now whether 9/11 was a conspiracy or not, that's a whole other topic. Look at how Russia just invaded Georgia to gain some territory. I guarantee China invades a small country with-in the next 2 years. No president is going to get us out of Iraq. Sorry

Hello, it was not just Bush. The whole government backed him and then used him as a puppet. Notice how you just blamed everything on Bush. The government loves you for that. The war could be considered useless. In a way, we may need that territory later but there were a lot of lives lost to gain it.
Obama wants to help us and McCain just wants to do what Bush does so why would we vote for him also america is a democracy so why wouldn't we want a democratic leader? If I was old enough then I would vote for Obama.

Don't cry to me when you get taxed to death to pay for Obama's social programs...
