I still hold that this thread is asking for a flame war to break out. Bah, I wanted Ron Paul, mostly because of his views on citizenship (taking away citizenship based on birth).

Speaking of citizenship, has anyone else heard the dispute about if McCain is an American citizen or not? He was born in the Panama Canal Zone, which technically wasn't U.S. territory at the time.

Yes but im sure he has liv ed in theUS most of his life and has an American passport so he is a citize.

Ethnically i am half greek and half nigerian but i still have a british passport and from a political sense deemed british.

Yeah, but the law states that even if you are an American citizen, you have to have been born on American soil to run for president.

Fact of the matter is citizenship shouldn't be based on birth anyways. EVERYONE should have to take the immigration test when they come of age.

What's the point of that? Our current system has worked fine for years, I don't think there's a need to change it.

Point is that people who don't want to belong to America really shouldn't.

If they dont want to belong to America the why did they emigrate there in the first place?

I'm for McCain, because I too am conservative. Not to mention he has a running mate from Alaska who supports drilling for oil in Alaska, which is the 2nd biggest problem I want fixed. The main problem in my opinion is Mexican imigrants (I hate mexicans, and sorry if i offend any Mexicans out there!).

My biggest problem is the 35 trillion dollar deficit that America is n, and neither candidate has a very good plan to dig us out.

Democrats - RAISE TAXES!
Republicans - LOWER TAXES!
Both have major advantages and disadvantages, though I don't see the idea of the government providing for everyone actually working...

Why can't we drill in AK? There are actually methods to do it that would minimally damage the land.

Regardless, if we switch to hydrogen fuel cells for our cars and nuclear power for our electricity, this won't be a big issue.
