The reason the Lef has to keep changing their ideas is because none of their ideas work! Democrats have been promising Hope and Change for decades. The reason Conservatives stick to their ideas is because they are proven to work!!!

The same solution doesn't work for problems that are completely different than the ones from 30 years ago. The smartest thing you can do is to change, and the dumbest is to be stubborn and demand the same. Because of democrats some of the greatest changes and freedoms have come to this country. If it weren't for democrats Women would stay home with the slaves and do chores, while men worked, and voted. The world is about change. If you don't change sometimes you will get stuck behind.

You are arguing like there is only a left and a right, but you completely forget about centrism, authoritarianism, and libertarianism.

Generally flexibility is regarded as a centrist doctrine, however all political positions change over time, modern day conservatism is much different than it was in the "Gilded Age" and liberalism is different than it was during the founding of the United States, however I would actually consider that to be more libertarian than liberal by modern definitions.
Conservative traditional values, in my opinion don't work; the Bible, often a source of such morals, tends to enable some bigotry in these morals (e.g. anti-gay, anti-non-Christian, etc.).

well, you forget that the first Republican president, Abraham Lincoln, signed the Emancipation Proclamation. And it is true that Democrats led the Women's Suffrage movement, but the Liberal Feminazis of today have taken it way too far. *beep beep* Oops, I have to go worship Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi now. =)
