I didn't mean to say the most educated, but most current college and University students are democratic. My bad.

I think Republicans are the more self-centered side of the united states (looking for personal wealth and gain) while the Democrats are more selfless and looking for the prosperity of the nation as a whole, and growth of a peaceful world.
This would be true if the Democrat party actually practiced what they preach. They want a Robin Hood Government(steal from the rich, give to the poor). Many in the Democrat party are bitter about those who are successful in life and try to punish them the only way a politician can.

For those who are wondering, yes, Rush Limbaugh is on my radio.=)

Those are just lies so America has more of a chance of beating Russia if a cold war starts out.
Actually, he's perfectly right. Those are laser-guided interceptor missiles. (someone needs to fact-check before they dispute a statement)

NO, I would never want to steal from the rich and give to the poor. I support those that are Rich and what they did to get their. I by no means agree to Policies that unfairly treat those that were able to make it to the top. I only support policies that would give those that have been disadvantaged a hand. But not to an extreme where are tax dollars are going to help new immigrants. (Which statistically are those that are at the low end of the salary scale) Every Immigrant struggles, thats why they came here, because even though they are struggling thy are doing better than they were in their former country. Its a normal part of moviing to another country and they get past it. I was simply saying that all parts of our nation have to function well for us to profit as a whole.

the most educated vote democratic
Really? So dispite the fact that I qualified for MENSA (though qualifying is one thing - I wouldn't join those snobs), you assume that I'm of inferior intelligence because I'm a conservative extremist? Most "intelligent" democrats act as though their beliefs are the only ones that matter and push off any conservative values as "old-fashioned" or "ignorant", and then have the NERVE call the right wing intolerant.

yeah, past elections have shown that the most and least educated vote democratic. as for the rest of your comment, I never mentioned you by name and I wasn't talking about you personally. As someone who "qualified to be in MENSA" you should have been able to tell I wasn't talking about you personally. Also, I think it's funny that you mention that you qualified for MENSA, as if offhand, but actually to brag, and then call those in the society snobs.

Flipski, I agree with your assesment as to why each the educated and uneducated vote democratic.

im 18 and a independent i just dont see the point of being a democrat or republican if were all supposed to be americans anyway. Im voting for obama becasue i feel that he can lead our nation into a better place not into more wars like john macain would. obama is lacking experience but i feel he can overcome that

That's only because their Liberal professors are indoctrinating them so. There was a study done in the 70's in which they asked 1,000 college students all over the country if they were Liberal, Conservative, or Moderate. An overwhelming majority said Liberal. But 20 years later, they asked them the same question. The second time, an overwhelming majority said Conservative.

I think no matter what happens, we need to stop causing global problems and pissing the world off. We need a break to regain some respect and prestige as a world power. We need this to help our dollar become stronger. It's shoking to see how a few years ago we could get anything we wanted in foreign countries. I went to France this summer and I payed $60 for 5 sodas after currency exchange.

Agression too breeds agression, so I guess we are ****ed if we do and ****ed if we don't.
Nobody said that McCain would be an agressor in a war.
A great man(whose name escapes me) once said:
He who fails to learn from the mistakes of history is doomed to repeat them

It's funny that you use that quote, as I believe most individuals in USA would consider the election of Bush as a mistake. Yet, the same people who voted for Bush are now going to vote for Mccain. Apparently these individuals haven't learned from their historic mistakes.

Sor my bad it was Poland were they were building those missiles in and Czech republic were they were building the radar in.

That being said, McCain and Obama are both bad. Neither one of them will make a good president. They are already a part of the system and therefore are already corrupt. But I'd rather see McCain than Obama. Democrats tend to have this idea of giving handouts and the like, which would add to an already abused system.

I agree it's a fixed system the rich people are in power.

You want to fix welfare? Don't increase the amount of money they can give out, but instead of just handing out a check every month, require attendance at a weekly or bi-weekly group counseling session, helping them to get jobs and the like in order to support their family. This would do two things - 1. Make it more difficult to abuse the system, since the people would be monitored, and 2. help the people who are having trouble to get better jobs and stop relying on the government. People are going to fall on hard times. It will happen. But if all we do is give them a check every month, is that really like saying we care?

Yes but sometimes people are disable or their types of services are not needed so they would be able to afford anything.

Well, Agent, you just lost all respect that I ever had for you. We disagreed but at least, I thought, you were a thinking individual. Now to hear that you listen to Limbaugh (quite possibly the most biased source of information currently available in the USA) I now know I was wrong. You can't form opinions based off of information you receive from such an unreliable, biased source. Any and all opinions you've formed after listening to him are void in my opinion.

I agree that there must be some influences from professors, but the professors are some of the smartest people in the nation, so don't you think that they have some credibility? Aside from that, I think most of the students come to the conclusions on their own.

This is true, but most current college and University students are also younger - the main demographic of democrats.

Also, has anyone else taken the political compass?

YOu know, I like to watch foreign news channels about US issues, because they seem less biased. (some are) but you get more different views that you can piece together instead of watching one dude tell you what to think, and leave out things that could prove him wrong.
