i personal dont believe it but many groups have predicted it ex: mayans,hopi indians,the bible St Malachy predicted the world will end with the 112th pope; pope bendict is our 111th pope. Why would all these people predict the same date?
They likely predicted that date because all the numbers are 0s 1s and 2s in a neat little pattern, but the whole thing is almost completely arbitrarily chosen. Keep in mind, the calendars we use were invented by people, and I highly doubt the universe will keep time by our count. I could say that on December 08th 2014 it's going to rain doughtnuts and all the lightbulbs in the lower hemisphere will explode due to natural phenomena; there's no logical reason for me to say this, and the only supporting evidence I can give is "it COULD happen, just watch!". I don't know why people get taken in by this whole "world's going to end on X-date" thing... the world could end at any second, but even if it did, there's nothing you can do about it, so there's no sense in worrying.
I don't know if this was said before, but one of the reasons for people saying this is because the Mayans had three calendars, and when they all landed on the same date, their world was supposed to end. Ironically, when they first did land on the same date, Cortes landed on their land, and that eventually led to their being all killed and stuff. It is now supposed to happen again in 2012, I think
I honestly don't think this will happen. I believe in the bible, and the bible says that no man can predict a time where the Earth will end. I say don't waste your time worrying about when the world will end, enjoy life and be happy. Unfortunately the world will end someday, your best option is to be saved and ready for whenever that day might be.
This may be completely irrelavent but I did see something on the history channel the other day about this. It was interesting although I do not know what to make of it. They found apparently some of the original Biblical writtings. It predicted dates would happen such as 9/11 JFK assassination and WWII. I don't think they really know that it really said this but i don't know. It said in 2012 A meteor will destroy Earth. But in another sentence it says I will destroy the meteor before it reaches Earth. So it could be suggesting there will be an Armaggedon 2 and Bruce Willis will come back and save us all. Or this may be legit I'm not sure.
