I am a christian, i and i strongly belive in my lord jesus christ, and i also belive that if you belive in him and except him as your savior, u will go to heaven. and i also believe that he created the world, not the big bang, or that we came from stupid apes.

Well if you've placed signs all over the world that you shouldn't be putting guns to people's head, and yet there is deliberate breaking of those rules, why wouldn't he? Heaven is for the ones who followed rules, and besides, even if you shoot someone that doesn't mean you'll go to hell (I'd like to designate a FACEPAW to Mage) so the whole thing is null anyway.

Yep, gotta love Christianity. Doesn't matter what you do, as long as you repent you're fine. However all the great people who lived morally and socially proper lives, they have to burn for eternity because they didn't worship Yahweh... sucks for them.

Heaven is for those who are forgiven not for those that are perfect. No one is perfect. I must agree with the latter part, Moses killed a slave master for beating a Hebrew.

Yep, gotta love Christianity.

Don't we all. Thanks for the moral support.

Societies approve of sin all the time not to mention having bad morals that they see as good ones.

The point I'm making is that no matter what you do, if you repent then you are forgiven. However if you don't believe in God in the first place then no matter how good of a person you are, you go to hell.

Do theists really expect us to be so narrow minded as to think that an omniscient, omnipresent sky fairy that created everything is so shallow that he'll punish you for eternity just for not telepathically talking to him and singing songs every sunday? Really??

Yea. Sorry. No matter how good of a person you are, you still sin. Salvation is gained by accepting Jesus as your savior.

Eh, I'll take an eternity without salvation then. I don't worship zombies, I kill 'em

You know what that means. Let's assume worst case: God exists, and sends all atheists to hell while religious people and criminals who repented go to heaven. In this case I can only assume that hell mustn't be that bad at least I'd see lots of friends and nice people down there (no offense meant towards religious people).

You know what I think? I think that if there is a deity of some sort up there that created us and gave us capacity for critical and logical thought that s/he would want us to use that, not blindly follow some old myth. I honestly would think that if there is a deity then they are ashamed of the fundamental theists who, instead of using their intellect, prefer to willingly adhere to baseless tradition.

yeah but most people who claim to be christian today just follow it mostly by their own standards, most dont read the bible all the time and are extremely strict. I do know 1 family that is related to me that is like that though, i feel sorry for the kids

You want to know a very interesting factoid? Only ~8% of those claiming to be Christian have actually read the entire Bible. Seems to me like an important thing to do, since it is the basis of the faith. I mean, without the Bible there would be no Christianity. None.

Do you also know the percentage of those christians who didn't read a single passage of the bible? Not reading the entire bible doesn't mean not reading it at all. I'd find it quite interesting too..
The bible is anyway a tricky thing. According to a christian friend of mine, it is something you have to take on a second degree; you have to understand it's message and not, and I mean, really not, take literally. Another percentage I'd be interested in would be how many actually do take it literally..

Well, nearest estimates are that nearly 60% of US christians are fundamentalists, so that's pretty scary. Also, I found a Vatican survey of US residents in which 93% stated that they owned a bible, and of those 75% had read at least one passage in the past 12 months. However that doesn't necessarily mean only christians. My wife and I are not christian, yet we have 3 bibles, a qu'ran, a torah, several of the vedic texts, and various books on philosophy and religion.

Well MrWalker82, what do you believe in? There has to be something.

What do you mean by that? Do I believe in the existence of a deity or deities? No, I do not. I have seen absolutely no evidence for any deity, and nothing attributed to such cannot be explained by natural means. That's not to say that if some deity showed up and manifested themselves in an observable, demonstrable, and testable manner that I would not change my mind based on the evidence, but lacking evidence I refuse to believe in something, or put forth something as fact, which has never been shown to exist.
