So I've noticed a huge lack of RPGs with storylines. Or at least ones that unfold at a decent pace. So I've decided to make a two-parter (and possibly a subsequent sandbox sequel). But too much explaining, let's get to the story already!

Nearly 64 light years away from the Blue Planet is a mostly barren alien world, mostly inhabited by polymimetic crystalline formations, and the occasional fungus patch. The crystal itself is the future of human space technology, with it's self-replicative behavior. Unfortunately, the scientists that were studying the crystals were mimicked. With the jumpstart of having a living being in it's molecular memory, it began spawning a whole civilization. This attracted the attention of a race of ancient explorers, of whom we know little. But now, to harvest the crystal and put it to our own uses, we have to subdue the local fauna and transport them to processing plants. Sure, some naturalists had objections, but the war council made a tactical decision that they wouldn't complain after a few minutes in the cold vacuum of space.

12/4/AD2162/0630 Earth Time: Mankind is half an hour away from it's first interstellar invasion. You've got to gear up and get to your dropship. Outside the generation ship there are faint pops in the atmosphere, probably enemy fighters.

More weapons will be available later on, and if the players ask, more vehicles. Choose your loadout, and I'll set the rest up. Your rank is basically your level, and with level comes larger teams and access to better quality equipment and weapons. Want to increase your HP? Equipment does that. Augments also do that.

Word to the wise for wannabe officers, managing a large group can be as challenging as it is rewarding. You can get promoted to the point where you control several tanks, aircraft, or even ships! But managing those resources is time-consuming.

Your objective: Establish a foothold on the alien homeworld, and push to what seems to be their capitol. Expect heavy resistance.

Your men climb up to the edge of the trench to shoot back at the enemy. You are heavily outnumbered, and several of your men are quickly picked off. All that is left is three of your original twelve. Your men managed to hit two enemies before they were slaughtered.

It seems the enemy have much better aim then your men.

Your troops are actually highly-trained, and have excellent accuracy. But if you've ever been in a trench, or been in combat.... Or hell, played paintball, you'd know that it's a lot harder to hit a target than it looks. But the aliens... Well, here's a spoiler, they mimic groups of molecules. They don't miss unless you're moving around a lot. Also, they are hella tougher than a human. They have regenerative properties. I mean, if you hit them with 3 or 4 .700 rounds, they'll fly to pieces and won't get back up. But for a couple of guys with 7.62 rifles, you're doing comparatively good. I mean, look at the hundreds of dead soldiers around you. At least you and three of your men are still alive.

Your men huddle around you, guns pointed outward. The explosion knocked you away from your MG, but it's attached to you by a belt feed and lies two feet away from you.

You're not a total failure, but you should find some way to communicate with HQ to request equipment upgrades, report inefficiencies, and bring in reinforcements.

Your suit is losing integrity, and pieces are being blown off. If you look at the picture of the Hoplite on the 3rd post from the bottom of page 5, you'll notice that the jump boosters are a pretty easy target.

You turn and shred the enemies with your rockets, leaving a few in the pod. There are still the swordsmen circling around you, but as more and more laserfire hits you, your suit starts to shut down, and finally collapses. You are protected, but not for long. You can feel the heated and melting metal sear you flesh. It doesn't seriously injure you, but it hurts like a b*tch.

The swordsmen are still circling you. They are about 9 feet tall, but even with the extra size, you are a genetically modified DREADNOUGHT. Not only are you the toughest sonuva***** in the known universe, but you are born not to need technology to take down anyone with the balls to tango with you. At any time you can inject yourself with a liquid polymethamphetamine/adrenaline serum. You have four syrenges full of it in those plugs on your spine near your cerebral cord. It will mess you up in the long run unless you see a medic to give you a countersedative once you get back to base, but you won't need that tinfoil suit until it wears off.

With the rest of the company, your dropships are launcher. The place you're landing is safer because a few minutes ago, a Hoplite was dropped in the same area, and is now down and recieving fire, distracting them from your ships before it's too late to stop you from landing.

Your men pile out, and team leaders order weapons free. Immediately several of the enemy are caught off guard and gunned down. There are two swordsmen circling the downed Hoplite.

There are trenches all around you, and you make a pretty target on the open knoll. As soon as all your troops are on the ground, the dropships haul *** out of the hotzone. You're stranded for now. So far, your 48 men and 2 APCs are keeping the enemies' heads down, but you better get to cover before they call a fighter strike.

"Support teams Alpha and Bravo use those rockets and hit the swordsmen, we need to keep that Hoplite operator alive!" I start operating my radio to order a new mech for the operator, giving my location. "Squad Charlie move back, find some blasted cover so we can set up! Fire-team Alpha lay down fire on the enemy, Bravo move back and keep our backs safe!" I crouch down and unload my rifle into the swordsmen. "Scout alpha start looking for oncoming troops and take them out! We don't need more enemies on our case. Bravo scouts keep your eyes open for incoming enemies. Medical teams move out of the firing zone, we don't need you to be our casualties! Indirect fire teams get your arse into a position that you can do your job from! Keep the enemies under pressure and tag 'em!" I shout as I reload and fire again while moving

Your buckshot sprays the enemy emptying your first magazine. You can reload or switch mags. Three dropships land 50 meters behind you, and start suppressing the enemy, giving you a chance to get to cover. A flare goes off 200 meters to the west (left of you)

You hear the officer in charge taking control of the situation and suppressing any enemies in the vacinity.

The Rhinos start backing up and hitting any enemy with that makes the mistake. With the cover fire, your men quickly crush any resistance, kill the swordsmen, and squad charlie finds a crater that has four trenches connected to it to set up a base of operations. Corporal Miller and one of the privates from Medical Alpha sustained minor injuries. You have complete control of 100m of the battlefield, but have attracted more serious attention to yourself from the enemy.

A flare goes off 175m to the west of your position. During the skirmish, the Dreadnought inside the Hoplite got out and suppressed several enemies. The group of enemies in the area has fallen back to a position 400m away from your rhinos. They are still within rifle range, but not with any accuracy. They are now beginning to take advantage of their superior range and accuracy. You have a few seconds before they are zeroed on your position and begin firing.

As you do this, you see three dropships leaving the AO at high speed. You hear gunfire and see rocket explosions approximately 200 meters away from your position. Enemies on either side of the trench flood paste the corners, and only two notice you, they move to engage you, using burst-fire weapons. Your men fire back, drawing more attention to your small group. Nobody is seriously injured, and you add a couple more kills to your count.

"Alpha and Bravo squad, back into the Rhinos! Now now now! Keep hitting their position until we're safely at the trenches!" I start sprinting toward the Rhino before activating my radio again, "Indirect squads use your mortars to deal some damage from cover. The enemy is 400 meters from our current position." I then attempt to hail the operator of the mech. "Unless you want to be another body on the battlefield get your arse over to us!" I then attempt to contact command to see how that mech is coming along and to ask if that flare was Ours or Theirs.

Your men comply quickly, putting down serious fire on the enemy position. You hear gunfire near the flare.

"Sir, that's friendly flare!" Corporal Ackles confirms from behind a G60C in the little base you have set up.

The 20mm shells from the Rhinos make short work of the enemy's resistance. Your troops fall back to the trenches surrounding the outpost, set up the mortars, and begin bombarding the enemy trenches.

Command comm cuts through. "Lieutenant! Excellent work........" the comms cut out as a faint rumbling shakes the ground ".......ill. We won't be able to bring supply ships in as long as there are fighters keeping the skies locked down. The north hemisphere assault has been broken off due to heavy losses. There is a possibility that we'll have to break off the orbital assault over your AO, we're detecting a massive signature coming in from one of the planets at the edge of the system. We're sending s....." The ground rumbles again, and you hear what sounds like millions of slugs oozing out of a wet mudhole in the distance, and the comms cut out completely.

You've got full control of 150m around your position, and fire control up to 450m away. You start to smell the rotting dead through your rebreather. What a hellhole. You are the last one into the rhino, which is crowded with Alpha squad.
