So I've noticed a huge lack of RPGs with storylines. Or at least ones that unfold at a decent pace. So I've decided to make a two-parter (and possibly a subsequent sandbox sequel). But too much explaining, let's get to the story already!

Nearly 64 light years away from the Blue Planet is a mostly barren alien world, mostly inhabited by polymimetic crystalline formations, and the occasional fungus patch. The crystal itself is the future of human space technology, with it's self-replicative behavior. Unfortunately, the scientists that were studying the crystals were mimicked. With the jumpstart of having a living being in it's molecular memory, it began spawning a whole civilization. This attracted the attention of a race of ancient explorers, of whom we know little. But now, to harvest the crystal and put it to our own uses, we have to subdue the local fauna and transport them to processing plants. Sure, some naturalists had objections, but the war council made a tactical decision that they wouldn't complain after a few minutes in the cold vacuum of space.

12/4/AD2162/0630 Earth Time: Mankind is half an hour away from it's first interstellar invasion. You've got to gear up and get to your dropship. Outside the generation ship there are faint pops in the atmosphere, probably enemy fighters.

More weapons will be available later on, and if the players ask, more vehicles. Choose your loadout, and I'll set the rest up. Your rank is basically your level, and with level comes larger teams and access to better quality equipment and weapons. Want to increase your HP? Equipment does that. Augments also do that.

Word to the wise for wannabe officers, managing a large group can be as challenging as it is rewarding. You can get promoted to the point where you control several tanks, aircraft, or even ships! But managing those resources is time-consuming.

Your objective: Establish a foothold on the alien homeworld, and push to what seems to be their capitol. Expect heavy resistance.

(I'm guessing you've never seen Saving Private Ryan. LOL)

Nikolajs grabs his other arm and tries to help you carry Gerhard to a miniature atoll made by an artillery strike. It has some cover. As you scramble up the beach, Gerhard's head lolls around, his eyes glazed over, either in shock or dead. As you two pull him towards the cover, laserfire starts spraying your little group. Nikolajs is completely blown away, his severed arm and should still loosely hanging from Gerhard's vest in the back. You and Gerhard are just barely grazed, and hit the dirt behind the dune, as Lazlo rushes onwards past you. Gerhard is spazzing upwards now, his eyes unseeing. His hands grasp thin air around him desperately, and he begins to cry.
"Oh god! Momma! How'd I get here? I wanna go back.... I don't wanna die.... I wanna go back!"
His eyes focus on you abruptly, and he grabs your armor feverishly, and looks like he's going to scream at you. Instead, he lets go and slumps back down and starts sobbing uncontrollably.
"Please.... I don't wanna..."
His sobs turn into frenzied crying as laserfire shoots overhead.

Count how many of his suggestions you ignored, mismanaged, bungled, and/or mismanaged.

One for engaging their strongest units.

That's one.

One for using mortars on their rear instead of their main force.

That's two.

One for not giving the strikecraft any targets or a confirmation of assault.

That's three.

One for not sending in armored units in time to counter their assault.

That's four.

One for being completely static as the enemy advanced on your position, eliminating any chance of you outmaneuvering them.

That's five. Five ways you ignored, mismanaged, bungled, and/or mismanaged a freebie strategy.

I mean I gave you two good ones so you wouldn't have to think of any yourself. You just had to execute them. If I was your commanding officer I'd have you executed for incompetence.

The two other platoons are getting cut to pieces by a combination of enemy heavy armor and light infantry. Your mech units are attracting fire with light arms fire. The assault up front is drawing fire away from their static firing positions, otherwise they'd all probably be dead from being sitting ducks.

The two other platoons in the company have moved up and are drawing fire and losing men. You and your men are expending a lot of ammunition. You empty your rocket pods into the nearest enemy tank, causing chain explosions that toss melting biometal and acid all around it. Finally it explodes, killing any remaining marines in its proximity.

One for engaging their strongest units.


To allow my men to get around the enemy.

One for using mortars on their rear instead of their main force.


To cut off their supply line.

One for not giving the strikecraft any targets or a confirmation of assault.


I had already told them where the enemy was and gave them the greenlight to attack.

One for not sending in armored units in time to counter their assault.


Because they were one, it not stated that they were needed and two, to flank something you need a key point to flank from.

One for being completely static as the enemy advanced on your position, eliminating any chance of you outmaneuvering them.


The men were sent to flow around them, along with the lieutenants men, said lieutenant was given the green light to act on his battle plan before the skirmish had even started and I already said for my Rhinos to follow the lieutenants battle plan. Meaning that they would flank along with the men on the ground. The tanks didn't move because I needed the enemy to keep attacking the defensive line so that they didn't attack the flanking units before they got into position.

The two other platoons are getting cut to pieces by a combination of enemy heavy armor and light infantry.


I gave the Russian the greenlight for his plan, him not acting on his Own plan makes him look like a right twat. The other lieutenant knew that we would be going along with the Russians plan so him also not doing anything, after hearing that I gave him the greenlight, makes him also look like a twat.

They're at around 2000 meters
That's two kilometers out, no way they came upon our position that quickly, you even said it yourself that they were moving slowly.

My strategy was supposed to be a joint effort
I gave him my troops, it was his plan and I told him that he was up. He was running the flanking operation, not me.

I thought I had already sent this, seems I was wrong. Things have been hectic on this end.

Didn't work. The catch was that they are slowly and take a while to aim. You diverted troops to engage tanks in a static assault.

What supply line? They are mobilized, and won't be getting supplies except by air until they stop and form a defensive line.

*makes you like a twat for not transferring command of your men to him, or using vague terms to do so. Each platoon is autonomous, until command is changed to someone else.

At a leisurely 45km cruise, it would take about 4 minutes. u math bro? u rangin'?
