I was just wondering what everyones opinion is on this topic. Personally, I would keep it a controlled substance (illegal). I know there are people who use it for medicinal purposes (glaucoma) and illegal purposes (to get high). All of the debates are pretty heated discussions and I thought this one would spark some new ideas, philosophies, concerns, and suggestions. I'm looking forward to reading them. thanks.
There are some possible benefits to marijuana, they just need to be contrasted against the risks of marijuana. It is a give and take, and more information is needed than what was provided in that thread.
what would come from leagalizing it? maybe some people would turned off from it if it is legal, like drinking. I've heard that once you're of legal drinking age, it isn't as fun because you aren't doing somethin wrong.
That is true, but some kids are attracted to marijuana because it is illegal. I'm talking about the kids who aren't addicted to marijuana, but are thinking of using it.
There really should be no reason to legalize marijuana. It is a drug that makes you high. If people were allowed to use it, there would be high people in the stores, in the schools... Imagine a first-grade teacher that is high on marijuana. Not pretty.
Yeah exactly. What is the point of legalizing it. So we can have more high people, death, poverty, and crime because of it. All the ramifications will be drastic if it is legalized. It will be like the 70's except worse. This goes for all drugs and lethal substances.
Please read the thread I linked to first. There ARE possible benefits, so don't go saying there aren't unless you have citations that back that up.
Same thing goes for "the world will be better/worse off if it is legalized". Please provide arguments that support that and/or citations that support that.
Good and bad points to marijuana. Why are cigarettes legal? I really wouldn't care if they made it legal or not because people are still going to do it. I doubt the legalization of a drug is going to make everyone want to do it. I still wouldn't do it. I'm a good boy.
