I got a question. Where did the cloverfield monster come from and did it die in the movie or is it still alive? Also is there going to be a Cloverfield 2?
I don't think so, here is some goodies my big bro told me, 1. there is some random jibberish at the end of the dvd credits, when played backwards, it says "it's still alive" in a whispered tone. The cloverfeild moster came from the bay, ok which is a mutation. The main character, he works for a compony making a GROWTH SYRUM. The GROWTH SYRUM, was spilled (as said in the beggining of the movie, tanker destroyed?). This also explains those odd little things. They inject the GROWTH SYRUM into victims, and that's why the ecogoth blew up and wanted no one else to get hit with the blood. That's all I really know and if I didn't say this b4, I think that cloverfield won't have a sequel because of the goodie at the end of the DVD.
Cloverfield was badly directed (I understand trying to be creative with a shakey camera, but it was like a roller coaster). The acting was horrible, because throughout this entire chase movie (monster chase people :P) they decided to add this ridiculous love story ("Oh, I gotta make things right and make sure my girl's alright!". It's just too over the top.
The movie was good and bad. I liked the concept of that there is a back story...the camera first-person view was dizzying at times. The point of the story (to go and rescue a girl he loved) was weak. However, there is something quite interesting about the end of the movie. If you have the dvd, put it in and go to the very last clip of when the guy and girl are at coney island. Look at the top right corner, and you see something fall from the sky into the water. This was a month before the monster came.
At the end, when you see the main guy (I can't remember their names now ; it's been a while since I've watched the movie) and his kind-of girlfriend on the ferris wheel, something falls into the bay in the background. This could either be the monster, or something that woke the monster up.
And mvpguy, Cloverfield was the name of Central Park, where the camera was found, after it was destroyed by the monster.
At the end, after the credits, you can hear Rob say "Help us!" and then some scrambled noises, that sound like breathing, but a bit staticy. However, if you play that backwards, he says "It's still alive..." So the monster survived the nuke and it sounds like Rob did too, somehow...
my bro told me that clovers tend to grow in a nuke site so I suspect that's why they call it cloverfield. I never knew about that end of thingy goodie either. . .AWESOME! The monster is awesome in all forms BTW.
Actually, the street the director was living in was called Cloverdale, and so they nicknamed the movie that, while it was in production. Later on, they decided that would be the title, but there was a mixup, and they got CloverField instead. The director himself said that, so you can take that to the bank. ;D
