A lot of presidents of universities across America are trying to pass a bill that lowers the drinking age from 21 to 18...any thoughts?

It's already at 21 for medical reasons...Studies have proven that before the age of 21, drinking alcohol of any type or any amount inhibits brain growth and motor function to a degree.

No, we already have problems with drinking and driving with young adults why should make more accidents? They have it at 21 for a reason.

Well, what the presidents believe is that if the age was lowered, that younger people wouldn't abuse it. I was talking to this one person from london that was 18, he said that he was surprised that the age was so high. He said that, every once and a while, he would just want a pint of beer, nothing more. Do you think that that same concept would also work in America?

This is actually FAR more true in males than females. If it was strictly for health reasons, it could be made 18 for women and 21 for men, but then shit would hit the fan. Either way... If it's all for health reasons, then marijuana should be legalized - the effects and possible damage are safer than alcohol. But you don't see that getting pushed through.

lolz

The thing is, even if the age is increased, there will still be illegal drinking and such. Possibly more, for all of those between the ages of 18-21.

You turn an adult at 18, you should have the ability to make your own decisions as a person. If you want to drink, you should be able to at 18.

Too bad the highest killer of teens in the U.S. is car accidents, most of which occur while drunk. If it became legal, these incidents would most likely go up. More and more people would become reckless and not think about their actions.

I think it is fine the way it is. No matter how old you are, we all have an equal chance of getting drunk and doing something stupid.

I've never let the drinking age stop me from getting drunk.
