So, what do you guys think about this 12th planet having a 3600 year orbit, and now it will collide into Earth on December 21, 2012, the last day on the Mayan Calendar?
I think it might happen... haven't scientists researched it?
I believe that a comet could possibly wipe the Earth out. As for it happening on that EXACT date, I would say that it was just a coincidence between the Mayan calender and what actually happened. I seriously doubt that the Mayans back then really knew that the Earth would end at that exact date. The world will end someday. I'm hoping it won't be in my lifetime, but even if it did, and it was because of a comet, its notlike we can do anything to stop it.
All in all, i doubt a comet will hit on that exact date, and if it does, coincidence is the difference between the Mayan calender and the event.
Good point! Great job pointing out the Mayan date thing... but I ask again, didn't scientists research it, and come up that it could happen on that day?
And we can stop a comet... blowing stuff up on it to reverse it's direction.

ANd by Technology, I meant our missles will be better. Like what someone else said if this Comet does come toward Earth we could knock it off of its course.
And I see... again, I don't think we could bring technology up that much so soon. If the comet is as big as they say, it would be almost impossible to knock off course...

2.) True. In the movies the world is always saved! Not true in real life. Something of this size would take to much firepower to knock off course. And it would have to be at the presise angle.
roadripper, all calenders end, and the mayans is no diffrent. ours ends every year, and theirs just happens to end on that date and time. its no big deal.
Well, yes, but the Mayan calander ends then and never continues. Ours ends on December 31, but keeps going onto a new year. THe Mayan calander doesn't keep going in a new year.
i personally think that theres a bunch of rumors going out there about the world ending...
theres like 50 different things that people made up saying that the world will end in 2012... there all probobly just a bunch of lies i mean someone could easily make a website and put anything they want in it and you dont know if its true... if scientists absolutley positively knew about the world being in danger we would know already its all a bunch of lies that people made up all because the myans didnt want to go farther than december 21 2012 and people are just making up stuff...

Yes, but the mayans calendar was a completely diffrent system. it had no years, days or weeks. Now lets put this into perspective. lets pretend the mayans went by a calendar like ours. We make a new calendar every year, but the mayans couldnt not make another, because they were killed before they had a chance. If humans were killed, would we make a calendar for the next year? i think not.
