Hey, I don't know if any of you out there have cameras in school, but our district is considering putting cameras in. Personally, I think cameras in schools are a double- edged sword. ON one hand, they will help with drugs and people breaking school codes and other laws. On the other, it is an invasion of people's privacy, and the stoners will just go into the bathrooms to conduct business. What does the body of AG think?
It's the inevitable. There will be cameras everywhere, for security reasons, they want to cut down the crime rate significantly, so the government will do everything in their power to do so. I would just not worry about it. If they find something interesting about me, they are mistaken, what they see in me could turn into the worst thing they would ever see.
If they use the cameras only for security reasons, I have nothing to hide. That's the whole point of it. If an embarrassing picture from the cameras of me got circulated around, I'd take action.
And for the middle school and high schools they have lockers. And there are certain policies in school that you can only go to places for a certain number of times per period. And where there are lockers, there are certainly people with drugs and weed. The schools also have periods of locker searches too.
For the gist of it, Cameras are all for just security and for crime reduction too. Those who are afraid about privacy, IMO, are just paranoid. There is nothing to fear about cameras.
lol cameras in elementary school is stressing it. Unless they have bad attitudes and need punished > which, yeah exactly they could use cameras for that!
Cameras in bathrooms are illegal I believe. Bathrooms are private, and of course in men's bathrooms, some parts exposed. That is the reason why they are illegal.
What you are saying is true in that there will allways be some sort of mischief or other activity and it will allways find a place to go on. Unfortunately, I am for having cameras because of the number of fights, amount of drug activity and even open violence/sexual harassment that went on at my High school and even college. Cameras may not be the best deterrent, but the college also has to think about the liability implications of the activities going on at their schools. Moreover, not only do the schools have to report incidents and those statistics are issues yearly on reports for the public to see how many rapes/drug related arrests etc. , but the school can be held liable in some cases because it happened on school grounds. My college had a lawsuit a few years ago against it because it 'didn't properly deter the activities that lead to the incident.' what incident it was I am going to leave out because I wish to not make the school known.
