I say heck no! That is not fair for gay people to wed. I have many gay friends who i think would love to get married. I think if two people love each other they should get married. So what if they are the same sex it shouldn't matter. And for people saying that is against god or w/e you think it is against, let me tell you god loves all his kids AND love is between two people man/woman man/man woman/woman, not the whole world. So it shouldn't be peoples decisions just the couples. So i ask you all to vote no on prop 8 and let everyone wed, help spread the word!
Do you have to really sacrifice so much of your life so that gay people can be together?
Well, gay people can be together (literally and emotionally) as much as they want. It's nobody's business but theirs. But when they ask for different rights, then it's everybody's business.

We only want the same rights straights are given. Like how blacks only wanted the same rights that whites got. Was the majority right in wanting to deny them the same rights? Since the majority wanted segregation should we have let that stand too?
We also have a responsibility to uphold the rights of the minority.
Here here! I agree. What about when black people couldn't vote? They were the minority. Look through everything we had to go through to get equal rights for everyone, and we are still fighting. Discrimination just has a new name this time.
Just came from the protest at the Lambda Center in Downtown Sacramento. It was beautiful. People were wrapped around the block. I heard there were close to a 1000 of us there (the Student Council of one of our local colleges showed up to be the sole handful of bigots for the day) but I dont know for sure.
I'm 32 years old and this was my first demonstration that I've ever participated in. It was great.
There will come a time in American history when we look back on these discriminatory laws and are ashamed of ourselves as a society. I just hope I live to see it.

Just curious, what was the college?
If I had known there was a protest going on I may have considered going, although I am sure more opportunities will present themselves.

I am sure we will, I can only hope that it is sooner rather than later. At least the vote was very close... it shows some sort of progress towards the right direction. But it just isn't enough.
Mmm The Prop 8 ads should have focused on religion, and how Christianity actually approves of it.
Using such quotes as "Hate the sin, love the sinner".
Really, the Bible says many things about not being hateful and punishing others for sins, as that is God's job. If God believes homosexuality is wrong, let him deal with it!

I'm just throwing out a guess, but it didn't happen to be the ARC (American River College) did it?
