I say heck no! That is not fair for gay people to wed. I have many gay friends who i think would love to get married. I think if two people love each other they should get married. So what if they are the same sex it shouldn't matter. And for people saying that is against god or w/e you think it is against, let me tell you god loves all his kids AND love is between two people man/woman man/man woman/woman, not the whole world. So it shouldn't be peoples decisions just the couples. So i ask you all to vote no on prop 8 and let everyone wed, help spread the word!
It doesn't seem like it's really slowing down though. Demonstrations on both sides of the debate are still happening, court cases are under way, more and more organizers on my end of the arguement are banding together (I would assume this is the same on your end of it as well).
Honestly I don't think it can be settled until people realise that religion and government (state or ferderal) should not affect the choices of individuals.
If gay marriage was against a religion (mainly Christianity), would it still apply to those who do not believe? I would certainly hope not.
Why is the state government involved in this when it shouldn't be? Well, judging form the points against gay marriage, the religious end sued and brought more into this than there should have been.
i totally approve it, whats wrong with people who love each other should get married, also i hate that saying if we allow gay marriage people will want to marry animals and stuff, that is the most ingorant saying ive ever heard
I believe there was a celebrity who married a zebra.
I was able to attend the protest tonight. It had a great turn out! hopefully we can make tomorrow night just as beneficial. Protest starts at 7pm. On the west steps of the state capital building. It is a silent protest. Bring candles and signs if you wish. Tell a friend
. Oh noes! I already have plans tonight =(
I must have missed something.
What's this about chickens?
Proposition 2 is another California prop having to do with the treatment of animals.
The LDS Church doesn't endorse any political figure. Nor do they give money to those figures. The Church doesn't stick their fingers into politics, it's up to the individual to pursue politics. The money that is collected by the LDS church, mainly stays in it. Some is used for relief efforts after disasters, but that money is there to help the members, not for political campaigning.
I don't understand. Prop 8 stated that gay marriage in the state of California was illegal under THE STATE'S CONSTITUTION. How can anyone "overturn" what the state just voted for if it's already the law. People who want to go to the Supreme Court of Appeals and try to get Prop 8 changed, how do you think that's going to happen? Aren't the courts just going to be like, so we have to abide by the law, the law of California states that it's illegal... sorry guys, it's a done deal. And for all you people thinking it's going to go all the way up to the Federal Supreme Courts, I highly doubt that. They don't want to be ones to make that decision, since whatever they say the whole nation will have to follow.
