Zophia poked me to make a thread. I know this will die off quickly, but I guess I could just show off some work in progress, and what I have managed to do by combining MsPaint and GIMP.
The first one is the outline. It is done in MsPaint, since GIMP was acting up.
The next two is the coloured result, both coloured in GIMP (It was acting okay again) The difference is the outline. The upper one is with the original outline:
With this one I copied the outline and blured it. So the original outline is on top, the next layer is blured, and then the colour come:
The last one here is what I will think of as the conclusion. A gradient layer from GIMP, smudged out and adjusted, again with the smudge tool. The lazy solution, I know.
Work in progress, right? I do not know if I am going to make it any better.
ARGH! *slaps forehead* Okay, breaking promise to myself, but I wanted people to see this, before I finish it. I have layed most of the colour, by I have some problems with some shadows and stuff, and needs to put in details and all that, so just lineart for yooouu!!
Reproduction of that frame on page five, round 4 of Strop's entry, where Kai coughs some blood up? I use the original as my icon on my messenger, but I wanted to give it some colour and stuff. I think it might have come a little out of hand, and this is also the main reason why I am trying to kick myself > > Original sketch (C) STROP, the super ninja, who is at the beach at the moment > >...
I care a lot about your art ._. It's amazing! Stop being so emo! Have some self confidence! You're not the best but you're far far far far away from being the worst. Your very very good. Your animals and poses are incredibly cool and your beasts are original and just awesome. I admire you.
Broke my promise to myself, but well, for my - "fans"..?
He is self destructive, but most of the scars are hardly visible in most situations (often because I do not care to draw them in, there is far too many). So those are the still healing wounds/scars from the blood round. The scar in his face lies far back in his background story, but at least that one is fading too (it was rather red and very visible for a long time).
Oh, did I do well? Does the blood and the cough spray look all right?? Is the colours okay, is the shadows believable, how about the background, should the blood have been more red, or more fading into the ground??
Not sure if fans is the right word.. "Persons who see the art by accident, and find it a tiny bit better than most other art"?
I like reds, I guess. Greys are better, though, but to play around with his hair and the blood and such, that is made of pure fun. The skintone was annoying, because he is rather pale in the first place, and then has a major blood loss -> really pale. So that is probably a little off, as well as the tone of the skin shadows, though I tried to make it better. ... It is really a long time ago I have been this nervous abot a picture... odd.
Besides the ones on the other threads, yes. And the lineart yesterday.
Hmm, it is too dark, right? Oh well, not sure if I will work more on it, or else it will never get done, and I have way too many sketches to finish.. Sadly most of them is Kaiish, so I do not want to spam this thread with him> >...
I think the skin shading on the neck is the only thing that could use a little work...Just a bit, over the top? Meh. Idk.
Hm, not necessarily- since the biggest source of light is coming from Kai's right, at a level just barely above his head, that's bound to cast some deep shadows.
Details can be sorted later of course. It gives me an idea...
