unless all those corporations suddenly decide that profit is no longer their number one motive

This is why I am anti-capitalist. Everything is about money.
And the rest is another reason.

We need unification. Thats why I am a socialist

That doesn't work! Haven't you learned the lesson that it's a naive thing to try and be a socialist? A true socialist nation has NEVER been created or executed. It's human nature to want to be better than the next, it's called "survival of the fittest" and that's natures way of killing all the people who aren't strong enough. When you socialists finally get a little power you wind up becoming a dictator and harvest all the good you want while your people suffer.

There's never been an entirely capitalist society either, though that's not the point at hand here and is most likely for another thread.

tax incentive for purchasing hybrids, utilizing public transportation, and mass transit. penalty taxes for those who purchase vehicles consuming <20mpg. (exceptions for those who have good reasons for large vehicles. ex. large families, businesses, ect.)

Well I think there a little people now that buy cars below 20 mpg. Probably just rich folks with the sports cars.

How bouy any methods for getting people to listen?

I know this might seem pessimistic,but....
Global Warming will not be stopped.People are just too selfish to do their part to help save Earth. It will be slightly slowed down by the efforts of some people, but not by much. The clock is ticking.

Xanatu is right. I highly doubt that pollution and such will decrease, mostly because in modern day society it is pretty much mandatory to have car. Mostly to commute to work, or just travel.

Recycling isn't exactly doing a whole lot, but better than nothing....

@Drace, methods to helping? I really don't know. If there was a world council, a law could be made that states that your car has to get at least 35mph, but that doesn't sound reasonable. This world that we live in just doesn't want to work together to save a problem that we have made.

Yea,Xanatu is right and Estel is also right I doubt poloution and all that wil decrease more than likely they will increase but hopefully alot of people will recycle it mightn't do much but it can help!

But if we keep pushing green energy, and start to get major companies making the switch, we can make a difference to our output of emissions.
