but, this law actually means that some people who maybe just punch someone in the face, (what would normally mean punishment in the form of a money penalty) would sometimes result in a practical death penalty: if you send someone back to a country where that person will be killed almost instantly...

and I don't like that one. do you?

Well in Switzerland you must only go "home" for some crimes not for all. Actually the law isn't yet mad but the people agreed to make one^^ And I don't know yet if you're deported if you have to fear death in your home country. Normally the constitution doesn't allow it.

What difference? Between the Netherlands and Holland?

Yes, that one :P

Its the same thing Dstar.

NO, that's what I'm saying all the time. Holland is province, well, nowadays even 2 provinces of the Netherland. Holland used to be one, and it was the most important one, so that's why The Netherlands are still called Holland. I wished more people knew that :P Though Don't worry, it's no offense.

hey, healmeal, I'm a drenth too. even if in my passport stands that I'm german, I'm born in Sneek, raised in Z-O friesland, and live already for six jears not more than 10 kilometres from Emmen!

Nice, it's where I go to school, and I live 10 Kilometres away from it too (well, 11 :P)

about Geert Wilders: he is right at some points, but he exagerates so mutch that I can only laugh about it. but it is more something to cry over. why does he say: 'if a foreigner commits a crime, he/she has to go where he/she comes from!'? that means: if someone really annoys me, I lose my nerves, and we get into a fight, (so: mishandeling, don't know the english word.)= a crime, I am kicked out, to germany. my german is not good enough to pass exames, so that means no uneversety for me anymore! that means harz4, for I don't know how to do something, exept learning! that means a ruined future at the age of 15! and I'm not the only one: WTF!

He is right in some cases. If you come to The Netherlands for economic reasons, you're a guest, so you should have the dignity to alter your live to that of a reasonable Dutch. You should blend in the dutch culture, not sue everyone for not changing to YOUR culture!
And about the other part, that's why I believe that it should only count for those who come here for other reasons than fleeing. I also believe it should only count for the heavier offenses or repeating. You're responsible for it yourself anyway

I haven't really heard much about Geert Wilders, just that he's a right winged populist and very anti-Islamic.

He's also left winged, alot of his points are more left than right, but he's simply seen as a right winged person.

but, this law actually means that some people who maybe just punch someone in the face, (what would normally mean punishment in the form of a money penalty) would sometimes result in a practical death penalty: if you send someone back to a country where that person will be killed almost instantly...

Make sure it doesn't count for those who flee for their lives. But do make sure they blend in well before they're actually allowed citizenship

I agree, but you should make clear which crimes etc.

I really don't care about Holland. It has a stupid name and does nothing for society.

Sentences like those is why people in general think americans aren't... Smart, or atleast people will think you don't care about anyone but yourself and your America (No offense meant to any other americans, though! There's plenty of good guys around)

Holland, is, like I've said before, just a province, and you can't rate a county for it's name. Secondly, like Skarl said, The Netherlands do extremely much for society, and they are one of the smallest countries in the world. Now that says something, not your words. Oh, and isn't everyone slowly trying to copy the Dutch way of keeping peace in Afghanistan?

good one healmeal! forgotten that one!

obama inspires his health system changes on -for a part- on the dutch system. the new dikes of new orleans are build by dutch engineers, based on the stormvloedkering in sealand. and those are only the more known examples...

america brought us the burger king though. big portions for not much money, and not much taste =P couldn't let that one go, sorry.
