Well, I, being in Los Angeles, the bad driver capital of the world, find that the worst drivers are the ones in their cell phones. I can't count the number of times I've been riding in the car with my mom and somebody cuts us off because they're too interested in their conversation to look behind them before they change lanes at 65 miles/hour.
Hey Agent_86, maybe that's because your mom is driving the speed limit. If you live in Los Angeles, average speed is around 75mph. Just throwing that out there, and I'm not flaming you in any way.
Using cellphones in cars is perfectly fine, as long as it isn't the driver doing it.
Studies show that many car accidents are caused by distractions to the driver, including cell phones. Especially cell phones now that I think about it.
I actually know somebody who lost their sister because she was texting and driving, came to an intersection after a sharp turn, and on that turn her cell slipped out of her hands, and she figured as she was going through the intersection, she would bend down and pick her phone up, and as she bent down to pick her phone up, she didn't pay attention to the street lights as they turned red..she died and her brother was in the pasenger seat, receiving serious injuries.
when a girl and her brother (twins btw) took the wrong bus and they got off they decided to cross the street but then a tow truck came and he was talking to one of the people that needed help using a PHONE so he thought he was going to hit them and turned right at them, hit the girl and the girl died
Well Im guilty of this but, I do tend to limit my use while driving. I dont text and drive but I may make ocassional phone calls that last no more than 5 minutes which is still no better than a hour long conversation. I don't get angry at other people for this because as I said I do use mine very infrequenlty but I do use it. The only time I get upset is when people begin drifting into my lane or don't go when the light is green or dont stop at stop signs, just the usual not paying attention really gets to me.
Cell phones are a distraction to drivers. Simply because if you dial a number or answer a phone your eyes are not focused on the road and a hand is not on the steering wheel at all times like it should be, which can cause an accident easily.
Once when I was in the car there was a women texting in the car and driving. And another time someone was putting on her make up and driving. They are all dangerous including driving with phones there is some crashes already, why are people making more?
