Ok, sorry for getting a bit off topic for a second. Have any of you ever thought about what or where the Jews might be today if there wasnt a holocaust?
To answer you guestion (not sayin that i am right ...my opinion). I think the jews would be the same but still be different. Their would probally be more jews but they are still proud of who they are no matter what.
the reason there are so many Christians is due to conquest. After Colombus discovered the new world, Spain which is a heavy Catholic country decided to have missionaries go over and try to convert the Native Americans. This became even more so when France came over (another heavy Roman Catholic country) and England which is mostly protestant. When Italians and Irish started coming over it became even more. It has to do all with conquest and since countries in Europe used to own many countries( like the Roman Empire) people in those countries converted.
Judaism is not about conversion. They believe they are the chosen people. Christians and Muslims on the other hand believe they must go out and convert people. It is part of the creed.
Don't judge all Catholics the same. There's nothing wrong with spreading our religion, but forcing it down people's throats is way different. We don't force anything upon 3rd world countries. We just tell them about God. If they don't want to hear it, they don't have to. Some Catholics are pretty crazy, and will go hardcore and force it down, but don't judge all Catholics that way.
Ya guy... wow u make it sound like im an a-hole.... I dont even convert... i dont beleive in that. But with "since all catolics try to convert shouldn't jews do it also" isn't that kinda racial right there. Thats like me saying since all jews in Germany were corrupting the economy wasn't it right for hitler to make the holocaust. Again not true, but Hitler believed that, and so did many of his generals and his "imperical" race. There was probably some severely rich Jews who were in the overnment and finding many loop holes and keeping much of there money around tax time and stuff like that, but probably like 1% of them did that. But at the same time your making my religion sound like were a bunch of dicks by you saying this... Not all of us convert, nore do most of us. Infact the biggest convertion ive seen is those catholic supporting african groups. It actually kinda makes me sick seeing those, because its asking for money, and at the same time trying to convert many ppl into catholicism by showing how we help the poor and needy.
jalex I am a Roman Catholic and i alter serve and i don't see the priests trying to convert everyone. I served xmas mass and the priest said" if you're not of our faith or haven't recieved your sacraments yet please feel to come up and be blessed" he didn't say "you can't recieve communion become catholic so you can." We don't try to push our faiths on people. That's more for the radicals of every religion. I mean look at Radical Muslims they kill you if you don't convert.
Infact the biggest convertion ive seen is those catholic supporting african groups.
Indeed. My grandfather remembers the first time protestant missionaries (as well as British soldiers) came to his village and pretty much forced people to worship Christ. That kind of thing was very common in that time period so i have never really agreed with missiosnary work even now. People should belive what they want to believe.
I'm a jew myself, and the basic reason we don't try to convert anyone is because we don't want to. I don't think we're a chosen race or anything, we're not like nazis, but basically if someone doesn't want to be jew-he doesn't have to. And also, to answer the question about the holocoast(or how the hell you spell it in english) TBH I think we would be at a worse place then now. The holocoast was the last straw (all together with the nazis n' stuff in general) that made us create our own country, with our own army (ZAHAL, initials for Military of Israel Defense or something) and our own rules. and no, we don't ride camels as I heard some people think, we're actually a source of a few highteck thingies... I think.
