First, a bit of back story before I post the rules of joining and playing, just to give you an idea of the story that will be.
A tall, dark tower loomed over the barren planes surrounding it. At the top stood a tall man dressed in a dark cloak, blowing in the breeze behind him. He silently cursed to himself, because although the surrounding plain was without any life at all, he knew that beyond the tall mountains surrounding the castle, the plains were alive with grass and wildlife. "No matter." he thought to himself. "It will all be dead soon. All in good time." He stepped off the edge and returned to the center of the roof, where a small pedestal held a small half circle. He pressed a hidden button, and the half-circle slid open, revealing what he intended to hide until the time was right. Five small polyhedral shapes rested in their own place, none of them touching the others. The man himself had another one in his pocket, he would never let it go. The power felt too nice to him. The man laughed to himself, he knew that soon he would rule all of Helmgard with the power of the shapes. Suddenly, behind him, a hidden door leading back into the tower burst open. A knight, dressed in chain mail armor emerged. "Your through Granwalt! Your evil terror ends now!" he spoke in a raised voice, nearly screaming. "How exactly do you plan on stopping me, Sothe? I hold all the chips, and you hold none!" "Preposterous! Just because you have the dice of power does not mean you cannot be beaten!" "Even without the dice I could defeat you, Sothe, and I intend to prove it!" With that the man in the cloak, apparently named Granwalt, pulled a book out from behind him. The brave knight Sothe charged forward, his two-handed sword raised high above his head. Bravery in his mind, he let out a shrill cry. Granwalt quickly opened his book, moved his fingers in a strange pattern, and then cried out; "Raldi!" A beam of pure energy emerged from his free hand, and struck the knight square in the chest. The knight fell to the ground, sword still in his hand. Granwalt tucked the book away back into his cloak, and walked toward the dark knight."Ha! Wheres your bravery now, Sothe?" Sothe clutched the sword in his hand, moved it back, and then threw it forward, aimed straight at Granwalt. "Right here!' he cried. The dark wizard simply moved to the side. "Ha! You missed. Your still a worthless knight, no matter how brave you may be." "I wasn't... aiming at you... Granwalt!" he said, dying. The sword lurched past the wizard, and straight into the pedestal. "No!" cried the wizard. The polyhedral shapes sprang up from the pedestal, and each flew off in five separate directions. "You see, Granwalt. Even when I'm dying... I still...Fight for whats right... That's, what it means... To be a true knight..." Then the knight's body convulsed, and he died. Granwalt walked back to the pedestal, cursing to himself. "Knew I shouldn't have cast 'defy gravity' on those dice... No matter. I still have one with me. And it's the most powerful of all. All that annoying knight did was prolong the unevadable. Helmgard, would soon be his...
"Why does every one I try to kill end up dying on me. Thanks for the help, though! Now, let's take care of the last one! Maybe I can finally land the finishing blow, eh?"
lol, Well, since there's not really much of a threat near the door, I move toward the beer glasses Theif Leader was near before, then I attack Theif Leader for...11 this time. And isn't that just freaky? I mean, seriously, how I haven't been able to kill off one of the theifs yet? Hmmm....
Kyle fails to notice the large flail coming toward his head (CS:11) and it scathes his arm (Doing 4 Damage.)
This brings up to a new round! All ticks are reset to below 30, and all combatants heal a random amount of HP Between 1-6.
Xenocrates fired a shot at the thief leader, slow but surely, (CS:11). The leader saw it coming, and made an attempt to charge toward Xeno, and use the momentum to hit him (CS:15). Unable to dodge, Xeno take's the flail to his stomach (Doing: 4 Damage). That's when the pair realized it might take more than pure brawn to take this baddie!
Kyle saw Xeno take a hard hit, and, still in pain from his own wound, rushed and ducked into an overturned table (Sheild Score: 8)
Ok, since that didn't work out at all, I think I may need to re-think my whole strategy-like thing that I have going on.
I say to the theif leader "Not bad, man! Although I get beat on worse by little 6 year olds! hehehe...
Let's see... *looks around the room* I think I see what I can do."
I go behind the bar and perform my Healing ability. Now, do I need to roll for that, or do I just get the action? Either way, I'll post again next time I can...
You never roll to use an ability (At least for tick cost.) Your cast time for your health regen spell is 4, so that would move you 4 ticks forward. If you know that your spell will still put you at the top of the ladder, you can go ahead and post another action on top of that one.
[i]Xeno ducked behind the bar, and quickly began preparing his Regen spell.
The thief leader laughed at the hurt warriors. "You can't hit me with those wimpy weapons! And how about YOU, you coward!" He marched over to the table, and smashed his flail against it. The board splintered, but didn't break.
Xenocrates finished his spell, and pushed his palm onto his wound. (Healing 2.55 damage, drop the remainder. Healing Spells DO NOT ROUND)
[i]Xenocrates stood up from his hiding place, his wounds healed slightly. He quickly loaded his crossbow and pulled the trigger at the thief leader (CS:14). The leader, still concentrating on the table, doesn't have much time to dodge (CS:10). The bolt pierces his skin, and blood is drawn, but the leader hardly even recognizes the pain (Doing 3 damage.)
The thief leader took his flail, an arrow in his side, and smashed it into the table. The table cracked in half, revealing the warrior.
Kyle quickly stood, his hiding place destroyed, and struck at the leader (CS:18) The leader tried to parry, (CS:11)but then realized the chain of his flail does't make a great defense against swords (Taking 3 Damage.). [i]
And this brings up back to Xeno. Your up. Also, an update on the Death Line. It's Empty! So any of you watching and wanting to play, just post a new character here and you'll be put into the fray mighty quick!
Xeno quickly loaded another bullet and fired at the thief leader (CS:11). The leader, over his now in the open prey, didn't see it coming until the last moment (CS:9). The arrow hit him hard (Doing 3 Damage.)
Kyle, the warrior, quickly ducked behind another table right when the thief leader attempted to dodge an arrow (Shield Score:7).
"Ah! You blubber'in coward! Your idiocy will be payed for in your friends blood on my flail!" With that, the thief leader turned his attention to Xeno, and he charged forward with great aggravation. (CS:??)
Okay guys, sorry for the wait. Xeno, you need to make a Combat Roll, and post an action if you wish, and Kyle you need to post your next action. Also guys, if you want another partner to join in the RPG, post a note that we are taking entries in your profile. You don't have to, it's no requirement. But it may help getting peoples attention.
Xeno pushed his crossbow in front of him (CS:13) against the thief's flail (CS:12). "What the?" The thief's flail bounces off Xenocrates crossbow, and smashes the thief on the side of his head. As he topples over, he begins to murmur. "...here's hoping... That my friends... Find out... the truth......." He coughs once, then dies.
Battle Over Victory! Xenocrates Leveled Up! Total Stat Points:1 Kyle Leveled Up! Total Stat Points:1
Congratulations guys! You completed your first successfully battle! Now that you've leveled up, I'll explain the level up system in detail.
Leveling Up Every big event in a story, I will issue one secret objective to each player. If that player completes that objective before that event is over, then you will level up! The thing is though, not all players objectives are the same. So not everyone may level up at the same time.
Upon leveling up, I take out a special deck of cards. The deck has 42 cards, each one has either one or two stars. (For you percentage savvy people, the ratio of one starred cards to two starred cards is 30/12 exactly, or when reduced, 5/2.) I draw separately for each player. The number of stars you draw, is the number of stat points you are given. But, what do you do with those stat points?
Each class of character has a special skill tree, each one is different for each class. A skill tree is a big line of skills, and at many intervals, it splits into another line. (Take Sonny, for example.) Although you don't know where each path will eventually lead, you can see all of your options that you currently have. For every skill point you have, you can get one skill.
Skills can range from anything from permanent stat changes, to special PERKS! But remember, with great skills comes great QUIRKS! You may also spend skill points on those, which will make you weaker. But, those usually lead to even greater skills and PERKS! There is one last Skill that you should be aware of... It is located as the bottom most skill available... It is a GRAVE. Now, the GRAVE doesn't actually cause your character to die, it just resets your character completely, straight down to his Points. The only difference is that instead of starting with 15 points, you start with only 13. Then why would anyone want to do that? Because, once you reach that point, I can almost guarantee that you will too board with how easy the game has become. This option is here, for experienced players who want a bit more challenge.
Okay, I'll post up your guys Skill choices up in an hour or so, but not now. I've been typing for an hour and don't feel like posting them. Feel free to discuss or whatever until then.
