To anyone who wants to be an ArmorGames Moderator: Answer me two questions. Why do you want to be a Moderator and if you were chosen, what are some of your ideas/suggestions for bettering(is that a word?) the ArmorGames Community?

Hmm, we need to make a "Mods are not us" club.. People tend to have moderator as a goal, but not even half will ever be a moderator, not even on other sites.. It is really hard work, and, well, just look at Strop. He is to tarvel in some days, but still, when he is online, people try to catch his attention on threads, writing off topic posts about something they want to report, as his comments are closed. If you are online, people want to talk to you, your wall will be taken over by complaints and newb/someone you do not know, who wants to talk to you about nothing..

That talking thing happens to me when I used to leave my comments open xD

I know, I know. Mods ARE hard work. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't strive to try to become one. That goal, if everyone does it, it might make this community a lot nicer.

I just want to say that some of the longer posts before mine are not actually answering the questions in hopes of stifling any more lists of what a moderator should be. (But since I take so long to type out a post, I'm betting there are several other posts made already.) That's not the point of this thread. It can't exactly be answered if you're on the outside, unless you have compiled the same data that the original poster is asking for. The original posts asks for those who want to be moderators and wants to know their motivation and what actions they would perform as a moderator, not what a moderator should be and who is qualified. It's interviewing a presidential candidate what they think their own qualifications and intentions are, not asking someone who does not want to be president what they think a president should be.

Cenere already answered the second question already somewhat. Anyone can make suggestions and have ideas to improve the site, although I've noticed that the ones who get picked to be mods aren't the ones who actually make (non-repetitive) suggestions. But the final say is above the users and moderators.

The why part? The ability to clean up messes is all. This is not like an open wiki where any user can clean up messes or other forums where there are several active moderators on at any given time. It's somewhere in between the close-knit forums where everyone knows each other and the flagrant spam/flame/troll magnets, although getting closer toward the latter end. There are plenty enough mods active for clearing up forums. But the game commenting system is lacking of cleanup like review systems for other sites. YouTube comes to mind, but that site is huge and there's no thumbs up/down system for that. Although other commenting systems elsewhere might all be lacking the same thing. But there's not a chance since I get like 4 AP a day on average right now.

Some people come here purely just because it looks easy to become a mod.

I know. You have a hard life being famous like that, Firetail.
Hmm, just saying that you have to realistic around it. It might be a goal, but then why do you not try and live up to it. Besides, there is always consequences, which is mainly why I, at the moment, would prefer to stay a regular user, and not become a mod. I have a hard time staying on topic after 11 pm, and I think I will end up being a mod who bites heads off, so for now, the community would be better without me with that kind of power. I am not nice enough to be one > >...

If I were to somehow become a Moderator, which isn't likely to happen anyways because I'm too far away from even a decent member, I probably wouldn't be very good at it.
I'd probably be more forum-based because that's really all I do on this site, and because I can't tell a good comment from a merit-worthy comment to save my life. Now I wouldn't be a couch potato nor would I abuse my power, but I wouldn't be much help other than lock a few topics(or delete, I'm not sure which would be better for some topics) and tell a few people not to be total lunatics on the forums, although looking at my AG self, I don't think I should be the one to point people in the right direction O_O
I mean I think I've helped stop 1 megaspammer in my time here, and have helped a number of random people in need of answers pertaining to the site, but that's it, and that's all I think I can do. Anyways why am I thinking of such things? I'd refuse the nomination anywho, not saying I'd get one in the first place, just so you know.

I know, I know. Mods ARE hard work. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't strive to try to become one. That goal, if everyone does it, it might make this community a lot nicer.

Guwwwwwwwww, well I won't try to be a Moderator, but I will try to be a good member because I don't think I can try to go for Mod XP

After 11pm I tend to get bored and start messing around with my posts, since no one is on I have to find ways to entertain myself ^^

Why Be A Moderator?
'Cause you need us.

Most of the people who say it is their goal to become a moderator does not have the qualifications, as most of those people see becoming a moderator as an achievement, in the same way as a game achievement...

Sure, strive to be a moderator. Some of the requirements are to be a good and responsible user who is able to make itself comprehensible.

Btw, Shintetsu... I came up with a somewhat original idea...
Oh, and I'm probably the most insecure mod AG has had, but who cares, I think I know what I'm doing.

But the idea people aren't necessarily good as mods. There's developing, and there's maintaining.

i suppose zophia is right, if you make some random person moderator, anything could happen, what if a mod picked a person who was a spammer, not much could be done, i suppose his right, we need qualification to prove that we wont mess up or to prove that we want to do something special, anyway, i dont think being a mod is a great advantage anyway, were having fun, enjoying the game ( apart from spammers )a moderator just proves that your loyal to Armorgames.

@ Zoph: What idea was this?

If a mod abuses his/her powers, it's simple. They get their privileges revoked, and worse. (Page 1&2's replies)

As for that Ideas/Suggestions message, I think he meant to say 'opinions'. If not, then ignore that, because this really isn't the topic for ideas.

@ Zoph: What idea was this?
Fuzzy time option. Most people liked it, including Carlie.

Nope, not added yet. Will take a while if it will be added, has to be programmed first and all...

And Sunfire, why are you asking such a question? It's not like we are going to be nominated a moderator if we say something good and nothing good comes out of the question.

Do you think I posted this topic to make a mod think I'm trying to be helpful to Armor Games so that I can become a Mod? I was just curious because most people want to be mods and I just wanted to see why.

Sunfire, this thread can be kept for further use as to why you should or should not strive to be a moderator.

It has some useful reasons ^.^

If I were a mod, I'd probably be like Loki from Norse mythology, where I'm still mod, but I'd be hated by all of the other mods because I'd always mess with people's profiles, and lock topics just for fun, and after a while, the mods would come get me, stick me under giant boulder and tie me to it with my entrails for me to stay until Ragnarok.
