Wow it's kinda been a discussion with just the two of you, huh? Well personally, like I said in another thread that I know atleast orion posted in, I'm agnostic. What I do believe is that the Big Bang was started by a higher power, similar to orion, but not necessarily God. We have no proof of God existing or him not existing, so I think agnosticity (if that's a word :P) is the most logical belief.
Well, God's time is different from ours, so for all we know, a day for him might be a thousand years for us. so, maybe he thought up the universe, started it with the big bang, and then waited and saw it was good.
Orion you need to adjust your link. And about the higher power, how the heck am I supposed to know? An atom's electron that felt it was superior and was? then split the atom and caused the Big Bang. I don't claim to know everything that is known about the Big Bang. I know the general idea, which sounds the like the most believable thing to me, and I've adjusted it to fit my beliefs.
Well, Actually, there is quite a lot of room for God in the Big Bang theory, because physicists can see any moment in time leading up to the Big Bang, but they can't see the actual moment of the Big Bang, or anything before it. If you don't get this, I'm sorry, I could explain it, but it would be sort of complicated.
No I get exactly what you mean. Physicists can only "accurately" describe events after the fuzzy occurence of the beginning of the universe which no one really knows what happened. There are theories, but none can be proven.
