A button where you can see the comments a person has made. This way we can help the mods, because we can also check for spammers and then just report them to the mods. It's easier if the mods don't have to search themselves. So practically the "commoners" will search for spammers much more easily and can report spammers much faster and more.

Good idea! Handy for finding consistent spammers and keeping track of comments. I commend you.

How come you think every one who makes small posts are spammers and have to be reported? Some just need to get asked to refrain from it.
Besides, as Noname has said before, catching spammers is not that important for all us regualr users, since, well, pointing out spam is spam itself.
Just let the mods do their job, and only report people who will not listen to common sense. Or are flamming all over the place, and will not stop.

But yeah, I would probably not use that option, nor do I think it is easy to program.

This idea is copied from Kongregate. It would work fine though, because yes, I think you would be able to find spammers and mean people quicker. Plus, users could contribute too by checking peoples posts and recognizing unfriendly users. Plus, you would get an idea of how nice a user is.

Truthfully, I think mods might already have this tool. Ordinary users should not be trusted with these jobs. You never know what could happen.

What is an ordinary user going to do T.T

Might mess with the merit copying problem though.

@ Cenere: I understand what you mean with catchign spammers is spam too, but actually it cleans up the community so in that case it's not spam

@ unlimitedpower: Well About kongregate I don't even have an account there so I don't know if it's there already.

@Firetail: The idea is that normal users can use this to keep track of people spamming around, then to report the results to an moderator. This way moderators don't have to search for themselves.

@Plokkey what do you mean with merit copying problem? You can't be awarded twice for the same idea, can you?

@unlimitedpower

Why do people say that? You mine as well say having forums is copying another site that has forums. That's dumb.

@Plokkey what do you mean with merit copying problem? You can't be awarded twice for the same idea, can you?

People copy other people's reviews and make it their own and they might get a merit for it, or just get caught.

Well that's something yeah, and I can't find a solution for that at the moment. A list would be too much and there'll be corruption if you ask normal members to watch them. Then again, the copying is possible now too, because you don't know that well who has done a merit, and if he done it's probally a 100 posts away. You could limit the maximum posts/comments whihch will apear, or only make it for comments, and thus not for forum posts.

I would use it.... but only if the users and mods make the most of the program Shpigford painfully made. If WE ALL use that feature for the good reason, not just to eavesdrop, then it is worth something, but if that feature is there just to be there, and no active leaders to add the finishing touches to the banning, then what's the point of making it?

Besides. Finding spam is easy: Look in the game comments and find a lazily-made comment. You could flag... but that will take another user to flag it to make it a problem on the delete list. THEN, after that is taken care of, we need to actually get a mod to look at the comment and then delete it. The chance? Slim. Sure, there are some that do stray from their favorite place and go spam hunting, but the rest just keep to the forums. That number is around 3 out of the rest, only 5 hours a day at the max. Not so much of a chance at all.

I think big spammers who spam on ghost profile and other hidden areas is what he is talking about.

And to top that, a server compiling lists of recently made comments would lag the site, even more that the old Last Active feature. Because the Last Active feature showed how much time it has been since the last comment or post.

It can get more simpler than that. Track the posts. See if the two users are just chatting for AP, when they could have easily done that elsewhere. If anything else, just look for game comments that need to be flagged.

It is a good idea, but like many other suggestions this may possibly cause lagg to the site, knowing spammers they are constantly posting random things so the button (or contents inside button if you will) will constantly be updating because users are always posting, it is a good idea but I don't know how else to explain, it will just cause lagg to the site. (sorry to burst your bubble)

Our goal is not to delete all the spam we can. I mean, spam is bad, but if we police the site too much then that would really make this site boring. It's like being in a school with way too many rules were your punished for simply wispering to a freind during class. It wouldn't be fun.

I'm not saying it's right to spam, but it's not something to worry about unless it gets in the way of things.

Who says the site has to be boring? It can be fun, I just shake my head and sigh whenever someone just puts up a lazy, pointless comment all for the sake of AP. It's their AG, but it's also everyones' AG. I'd rather have it clean and to-the-point, rather than filled with nonsense and random pressing-of-buttons posting.

Well it was mainly meant for comments on profiles, but I think it would indeed lag too much. Besides, spammers could use this to find fellow spammers. And then there's the point, what do we call spam? If you count things spam too easily, things will go as Noname said, and otherwise it wouldn't help much either. Think there's nothing to do but to flag.
