A button where you can see the comments a person has made. This way we can help the mods, because we can also check for spammers and then just report them to the mods. It's easier if the mods don't have to search themselves. So practically the "commoners" will search for spammers much more easily and can report spammers much faster and more.

For every suggestion there is a reaction of it lagging the site and how did firetail get in this?

Firetail has wrote gazillions of comments... And if someone that has less than 500 gazillion GB RAM and CPU will open firetail's comment tab thingy, His computer will freeze.

well are you saying spam should just be ignored?

You shouldn't expect from someone to check every game, every user to delete his comments, only for him (the spammer) to spam more.
Unless spam wouldn't define spam, It wont go.

Here is a better suggestion:
Limiting minimum characters and types of characters, Limiting maximum number of the same character, Limiting accounts with maximum comments per day, Maximum votes per day, Maximum posts per day.

P.S Sorry for double posting, Accidentally clicked "Post Your Reply" And I cant edit the post (add the edit option xD)

Maybe a limit on it to reduce the lags, like only last 50 posts?

Limiting characters was suggested before but turned down.

Limiting accounts with maximum comments per day, Maximum votes per day, Maximum posts per day.

well why would you limit the posts, comments and uhm, votes?
this would be like school

I don't think that this is a good idea at all cause not all people that write small posts are spammers even me i write small posts sometimes only because there is nothing else to say so i think this is a waste of time.

Are you claiming to be innocent, RussianFreak? I don't know, I haven't seen all your posts. Yes, some small posts are not spam. For example, if a moderator asks you "Have you talked to Jimmy Neutron lately?" it's hard to say anything other than 'yes' or 'no'.

That's what I meant with what do we call spam

Spam is when you purposely write something that you know you shouldn't. Like one letter posts, off topic posts and other related material.

Firetail has wrote gazillions of comments... And if someone that has less than 500 gazillion GB RAM and CPU will open the comment tab thingy, His computer will freeze.

If I have seen correctly, Carlie has written almost as many forum posts as Firetail. What does that make her? Because I don't think administrators spam.

That's like telling Edison "Don't invent anything good". Some people post a lot, and what's more, it's good stuff. Take users like Healmeal or Klausehouse for example: Restricting them would be pretty dumb, beause then there wouldn't be many great posts that make things clearer.

Yeah but sometimes it's not clear eough to reconise something like spam.

Limits will indeed lead to less spam but also to less constructive posts. Though the spammers can still check later to spam again so this won't solve too much. If you would limit it to 25 comments an hour people would check each hour to spam. Not a solution either.

But btw I don't think my idea will work and thus i request again to lock it, unless someone else has an idea.

Actaully firetail is ahead of carlie by about 2000+ post.

ulimitedpower - I never said Carlie spams. I said that if you go to his/her page and open the comment tab, which was just suggested, your internet page will freeze.

i think we should make a program that if a person gets over 1000 points in a week (without getting merits) then that person gets banned.

i think that this is a bad i idea cause sometimes the spammers don't know the rules so they have to be told and here is a another idea that button will atomaticly send a warning to the profile and after 10 warnings you get banned for a day.

Well Maybe not a lock to this tread yet as other people seem to submit their suggestions here too.

@Zega : I already said that a limit on commments showed would fix that, like 50.

@ JJ: I don't think that'll work that much because there are definitly good guys here who are doing good forum posts and are active alot and comment alot on their many friend's page.

Yeah, A ban for a day, After 10 warnings? 1. A warning is like lets say, 10 comments in 5 mins? ok, so after 100 comments in 50 mins, And he gets banned for a day.

So please, THINK before you suggest ideas.

Here is the deal. The reason why people have so many comments and so many points is because they tend to have conversations with other people. Profile to profile conversations are the biggest sourse of points for most people on AG. I do agree that game comments are very messy, but profile comments are fair game unless it is obvious the person is trying to gain points.

I honestly don't think anyone can dissagree with that either. I mean, I am one of the very few users who have more forum posts than comments of any kind.

It is best not to be too picky about what is and what is not spam. As long as they aren't irritating people (directly) or posting just for the sake of AP, then it's all good.

This tread was there to discuss the positive and negative sides of the idea to see if it might work.

And Noname has a point though when I posted this idea me and a few other guys were iritated by Sparkshade and I was rather annoyed by him so I thought this would be an idea. Though there aren't many like sparkshade and you can quite easy detect them. Then Again i already asked for this tread to be closed as there were some other things why it wouldn't work send already here.

Hm, after thinking it through, this gives me an idea. A really wicked idea.

Does anybody know what the creator of xkcd did on IRC? >

PICK ME!! PICK ME!!!

I...I have aimed for more Forum Posts than Comments ever since I got that last piece of advice from Nick_Coolhaha before he left....

This may help the Mods...but really...unless spam is directly affecting you...just flag it and ignore it...a lot of the time it isn't worth it...
