Why do people like them so much? The only thing thats decent about them is that they play fast. Besides that they have no musical quality. They stay in one key through "Through the Fires and Flames" and they cant keep a tempo live because there a recording band not live band.
So is it just me or dose everyone not appreciate real musical quality anymore?????
Dragonforce has quality. Dragonforce is quality. A band does not need to have fast music to show that they are professional.
Bands MUST be able to play live, because it is the law. You can't just record something great and just expect yourself to become a band, that's unheard of.
What's this about key? Concert key? Do you know music, Bobitho? Because music has the right to change keys, did you know that? They go from Bb concert to F concert in the last half of their songs; most of their music is about wars, fighting, and freedom; the change of key is what marks their success.
Most bands don't even do this? They stay in Bb concert, 4/4 time, and ~100 tempo. BORING. Dragonforce's songs change it up. They change concert keys, one song changes into 6/8 time and 3/4 time, they even change tempo, from a quick 160, to an andante 80. This is what music is SUPPOSED to be. Playing the same transitions over and over again is what gets dull, and this is what rips musicians apart. They are just bands, they are not REAL musicians.
You guys like Through the Fire and Flames, because it is the FIRST SONG you have heard from them. Everyone gets this sense of influence from the first song of every band, that they think that that song is greater over all other music pieces that they've played. WRONG. There are far greater songs by DragonForce, you just haven't listened to them. If you want, I can give you a select couple of songs that RIPS the cake, not takes it.
You cannot say ANYTHING about any band, INCLUDING Dragonforce, unless you have actually listened to their songs. Standing by what other people say, that's what pure ignorance is. I'm sensing a pattern here, between people. They don't shrug off influence, they absorb it. I suggest, before you go slamming Dragonforce down, and actually listen to some of their songs. They are very good, and you can't slammer them because they just play fast. That's just utter nonsense.

I have actually listened to many different Dragonforce songs from various albums, and I personally just don't like them that much. They just are that great, just a bunch of finger tapping. Now, I am in no way calling them bad guitar players, its just that most of their songs just sound too similar...too fast. I've listened to both studio songs, and live songs on youtube. In my opinion, they just sound like crap live.

It depends in what category of guitar playing, speed yes, Herman Li could probably own most guitarists. But in Blues? No. I'm sure that any GOOD blues player has more soul behind one note than 10 of Herman Li's notes. I'd much rather prefer a solo by a blues king like BB King, than a speedmetal solo by Herman Li.

Yah i do know music and staying in standard concert keys is lame Bb is boring.Yes, i know i like it when bands change keys it makes them musically active. I was saying how dragon force dosent explore any "different" keys. They stay in boring keys that dont make the song interesting. I tend too fall asleep during most of there songs because most of them are the same boring licks/rythms, keys, and chord progressions. And Dragon force i have listened to must of there songs and none of them impress me the whole playing fast really isnt that hard if you sit down and learn the tricks to do it it takes about a week of hard practicing to play that fast not that dif. And No Herman Li dosent own Slash not anyday. Herman can only play fast he has no soul no passion and no style. Slash plays with a feel and he is one of the greatest guitar players of all time. Theats why Guns n roses is getting put into the Rock and roll hall of Fame in 2011. Dragon force will be forgotten soon enough.

At first you seem to be quite hostile towards them but you don't really seem to have good arguments for that. They are a live band and I nearly even went to one of their concerts. I don't know what kind of music you like, but if you like Trash metal you'll like them too. And you seem to be quite ridiculous by saying it's not real music. Again, you didn't put arguments why it wouldn't be called real music

That also depends on what genre you like. If you hate classic rock and blues they're less likely to be your favorites. Ofcourse there are legends out there but that doesn't mean they're better. Noone's the best.

People like them so much because they like their kind of music. And they have several musical qualities that you might not even know about.

Well, this isn't a big report but Dragonforce is a very impressive band known for there fast playing. Not only fast playing, but they can play fast songs for a long time. All there songs have a slight same intro by hearing. They can play for about 7 minutes of fast play with few small breaks. It is true that Herman Li could beat Slash in speed but Slash has actually some creative music with a true style, while Herman Li shreds away making almost the same sounds.
All I have to ask the starter is: Do you play guitar? Because if you do then you know why Dragonforce is so good. They have an amazing guitarist. I don't think that I really have to go into how he does amazing hammer-ons and pull-offs because either you know this or you don't understand what they are.
He does focus on riffs a little bit too much, but that is what rhythm guitar is for. If you compare this to a great band like Megadeth you can tell how great he is.
