I watched the newest Rambo movie last night, and I think there might be something wrong with me. In the opening scene, when the guy stands on the land mine, I laughed, REALLY hard. And when the people are getting their limbs cut off I laughed and made jokes. I fell on the ground almost crying when the guards head got caved in by the sniper bullet. Is there something wrong, or did everyone find this brutal movie as hilarious as I did?
This reminds me of the time I watched Kill Bill. I was younger though but I was laughing hysterically. It was a strange experience because the movie was very violent and bloody yet I was a child and I also found it funny.
I don't think theres anything wrong with laughing at violence thats somewhat fictional. The movie itself if fictional but war is a reality and is no lauging matter. You just need to know when not to laugh is all. Now a days everyone is so bent on being politically correct that if you slip up somewhere along the line people call you on it and thats whats wrong. Joking about things is a way to lighten up the mood and in that sense nothing should be sacred but there will always be people out there who are ready to defend even the smallest topic, which is there right I suppose but still...
Ok, I'll give you all another example. We were in planning and I think we were all talking about animal abuse. This sparks the story of the person who put their cat in the microwave. Then somone up front goes "I heard about something like that, but the lady didn't want her baby so she put it in the microwave for half an hour." I laughed a bit louder than intended and now most of my class thinks I'm a maniac.
