I've noticed that all of the 0 AP ghost accounts are ranked #88,270. So, if there is a way to delete a designated amount of accounts, then Dan or another admin could delete a few thousand accounts below that mark a day, and the ghost accounts would be nixed slowly but surely. Any thoughts?
still the some that have been forgotten and lost passwords too would be deleted
the newcomers don't know that it is 2 ap per rate game/comment and 1 ap per forum post...could have a little message saying if you want to keep your account gain 5 ap or it will be deleted in a month
Although it doesn't prove your rankings are so great, as long as they do not lag the site or take up too much room, save the mods and admins and developers some work and leave it as it is until later. Thanks for your suggestion though.
For all of yo usaying that if you don't have AP why do you have an account, wel lthink.
Log out for a minute and acces a game. It will say you must be logged i nto post a comment. Adn with that read what other thought of the game. That's why people have on. To view the game comments.
Well, people create an account, have a look around the site, get bored, and leave. There are always instances that ghost accounts are just deserted profiles. Pretty much most of the time. You don't see a person with 0 AP who signed up a long time ago online very often.
As a requirement to registering for Armorgames one must have an email. Simply have an automated email be sent out to all Armorgames users (remember some ghosts have larger amounts of AP before thy quit) and just supply a link in the email. To save your account from destruction you would simply click the link or log in to Armorgames. Also, have an automated message bot post on everyone's profiles in case they don't use their email or something that tells them to log in. After two weeks to a month accounts that have not been logged in or saved by link will be deleted. As a further policing action, the accounts could be divided between those with AP above 10 and those that don't; a program can execute simple calculations to see how many points would be lost by all users if the comments on the under 10 AP accounts no longer counted. If a user not slated for destruction has a very high number of points that would theoretically be lost this way (hence a large amount of spamming on ghosts) than a moderator or administrator could check out the problem. The actual removal of the accounts would probably occur a month to a month and a half after the initial email is sent out.
ghost accounts are annoying and i agree with fire tail [quote]On a side note, maybe it would be helpful to have a self-delete account button, as many people are too lazy to ask a mod for a ban.
That sounds like a great way to eradicate all those ghost accounts, I noticed that when I first joined AG, I was ranked 80,523 and I didn't even have any AG points.
I have to say, ghost accounts aren't doing anything outright malicious, but they are quite annoying. It's impossible to know how well ranked you actually are on this site, just because of all the ghost accounts. Also, people comment on them for easy AP. I think they should be deleted, but it's stretching it a bit to complain about the space they take up, which is next to nothing.
