I'm assuming that this idea will be shot down and to be honest I don't even know if it's possible to set a minimum character limit for game comment, but I'm asking for opinions anyways. Personally it just bothers me when i see the same users saying OK, sucks, boring, or good for every single game they play. I'm not saying all comments have to be huge, I'd just like more than one word.

Tell me what you guys/gals think about it(and tell me if it's even possible). Thanks :]

always going to be the repeated post about the flaw of people typing a single character 5 times to fit the limit

Obviously, but those people who break the character limit with spam will be flagged(at least by me) I feel that it won't completely fix the issue, but it will improve the feedback on games a lot. Developers depend on constructive criticism, suggestions etc. not "sucks" and "AWESOME!"

Hm, we could be really draconian about it and automatically ban anybody we see making such comments, as they're obviously there to spam.

I'm liking the idea of a minimum character limit more and more every time I check game comments.

could have a minimum word count rather than character

maybe install some sort of dictionary and common spelling mistakes to check it

Either or works honestly. Like I said I'm not expecting everyone to write an essay about each game they play, but a nice 10 or so minimum character counter would be nice. Obviously there'd still be short posts(barely passing the counter) but it'd be much much nicer than a 1 word response imo.

What if you say...

Ok, I'll give it a 7/10

You've got 17 characters there, and most people say:

Ok, 5/10

You've only got 7 characters there, and you haven't added anything else to the one above it, just a couple of words.

See the flaw?

But I am all for the idea!

Of course I will have no say whatsoever in what the min. limit would be if one was to be implemented....maybe 20? Whatever it is people will find ways to drag out their comment to essentially say the same thing, but even if a little more criticism or suggestions come from it I think it'd be awesome!

that comment is MUCH better than just an "okay" or "sucks"

I know this kind of suggestion has been turned down a few times but
it would be better if it was somewhat more than a one word post.

So I'm agreeing with kesse on this one

Haha thanks :]

Seriously, every single game I play I see one word posts on just about the whole page. it's pretty lame....they might as well just be still saying "FIRST!" even though they're the 1,727th person to leave a comment.

Its a nice idea, but might turn users away. They don't want to spend so much time per comment. But I think 7 words is the minimum in the rules. But hey no one follows it much... The mods should be feeling happy about this thread. Eradicating spam...

Or a 50 or a 100 character minimum, spam 1 (because there is masses of spam) normal comments and justice 1. Tie. Episode two coming for next suggestion.
