Why do this instead of doing an hour doing nothing (quite literally) everyone should think about what we can do to save the planet. Not using fuel isn;t an answer it just puts it off. Governments should spend more on nuclear fusion and less on wind farms and solar stuff if we want to make an impact.
I have a metaphor; "Hug a cat and then kick it". And by saving energy now we are "hugging the cat" but since we are releasing more energy by the minute we are then "kicking the cat".
(The metaphor was made up on the spot for no reason)
i figured id get a differing set of replies, but i must say i am not the creator of this (as someone must know because they mentioned it to be annually) but just supporting it. AND i completely agree with pixie 214
but with the banks, economy, etc. there may be more important things for this exact moment..

Nuclear Fusion is good, I like that, just try running that by enviromentalists who are obsessed with wind and solar energy.
wind and solar is good but especially for solar, until we find a material that absorbs all or most of t he suns energy, for the amount of space panels take up, its pointless

Actually, fusion is the endless power source, fission is not endless as it creates nuclear waste, and if it produces anything bad or excessive, and requires more and more fuel, it is not endless.
this problem isn't gonna be solved by just turning everything off for an hour or two or even a day. it wont do anything itll just put off everything for that much of time. but ill do it anyway so the planet doesn't die in my lifetime after im dead i dont care what happens.

Earth Hour is the time when all the greeny's get together and join together in unity to do the same thing. Be bored turn off power source and sit around wondering why the hell they wanted to do this.
Turning off power for an hour will not do anything. Only delay it by an hour.
And we already do this when we go shopping and stuff.

Fission creates nuclear waste which is bad cos it is hard to contain safely and is dangerous.
Fussion is better and cleaner and is what stars use to power themselves. It is hoped that if we perfect it then we will have all the energy we need. I think not enough is done as far as research goes in this area.
lol i go camping every weekend end in the summer, anyway some facts for all you making fun of this idea... the Eiffel tower, (spelling?) and another huge tourist attraction which name escapes me, will both be cutting power for the hour =D
