Do you like them? Do you hate them? Your thoughts? ---------- I like Coldplay. They're lyrics are fun, the mood is dynamic, and the music is complicated. Also, Chris Martin has a pretty good voice. My favorite songs by Coldplay are Clocks, Yes, 42, Violet Hill, and Yellow. Viva la Vida. . .isn't really all it's hyped up to be. (Sorry Coldplay fanatics >)

I can agree with ALL of that. And yes, Viva la Vida isn't the best...
I wasn't a huge fan of thembut I have listened to them a bit more since alt talked about them to me. Yellow is good and I agree viva la vida didn;t impress me much. They are a talented group and sem pretty good.
@zoot: They supposedly stole parts of the rhythm. :P -------------- Clocks is genius, nuff said. Yes sounds great, great orchestral line, 42 has a really cool combo of piano and vocals, and Violet Hill has a cool guitar line, cool vocals. I like how Chris Martin's voice sounds, and he can sing differently in different songs, like Clocks and Yes.
@firefly: Some of their new stuff is quite similar to their older. I don't like Viva la Vida all that much to be honest, but the other songs on that album are good. Lovers in Japan is good too. Strawberry Swing is okayish, imo. And no, I haven't been called gay for liking Coldplay at all 0_o

Have you listened to either of the songs? They sound completely the same. Same key, same chord progressions, same rhythm, same overall melody. And the lead guitarist has admitted being a Joe Satriani fan. Sounds like plagiarism to me.
As someone who knows a fair bit about music theory, all I could see was differences in the instrumentation and in some of the composition. Of course, Satriani doesn't use lyrics to go with his songs, but at school the other day my friends played the two songs simultaneously, and they fit together like a puzzle.
