Do you like them? Do you hate them? Your thoughts?

I like Coldplay. They're lyrics are fun, the mood is dynamic, and the music is complicated. Also, Chris Martin has a pretty good voice. My favorite songs by Coldplay are Clocks, Yes, 42, Violet Hill, and Yellow. Viva la Vida. . .isn't really all it's hyped up to be. (Sorry Coldplay fanatics >)

The problem is that there is a snippet in the chorus of the Satriani song that is interchangeable with part of the Coldplay verse-a small snippet, but interchangeable multiple times. This snippet has slightly different chord progression, with the Satriani song and the Coldplay one opening with a different one, and the rest being the same. Also, the melodic arc is similar.

That's like turning in a paper and saying "Well, I only copied 90% of it from Spark Notes..."

I understand. Though it was plagiarism, it was a minor one. Besides, we don't know if it was intentional. It's too early and too hazy to call definitely.

I really dislike Coldplay. Their beatsa re rudimentary and their lyrics are just boring. I think that they have no talent and are just a marketing tool.

@peterabi: Have you actually listened to some Coldplay that isn't overplayed on the radio? Many of their lyrics are deep, asmd have complicated beats and such. Have you listened to any Coldplay songs besides Viva la Vida and Lost!?

I actually have not. After hearing them on the radio, i decided to keep far away from them. The only other song I have heard is Speed of Sound and I did not like it, though music video was quite cool. I will look into them, any songs in particular that I should

@Peterabi: I thought so. I nmoticed you also posted a post saying that 'Disturbed is the best ***ing band ever' so Coldplay just may not be of your tastes. Though, most of their songs are actually rather complex. Clocks has simple instrumentals, yet deep lyrics, Yes has a different sound to it with more orchestral and percussion layers, and most fo their songs aren't just repeated piano/orchestra line+vocals.

Clocks, Yes, and Violet Hill would be good for you to listen to. Violet Hill is simpler, but has a cool guitar part

Ok, listened to them. You did change my view on their lyrics, not as bad as i though, but i still really though their music wasn't that good. Violet Hill was not fro me, but clocks was not that bad. But thisisnotanalt, do you agree with me that Viva La Vida is not that deep and musical. I still can't believe that it was on the top charts forever.

I like Shiver. The only song I've heard by them. And yeah, their songs are rather complex to play if you ever try.

their best album is very clearly a rush of blood to the head. I love the songs the scientist, clocks, and in my place specially. Viva la vida was also awesome, all songs are good. Coldplay is my favorite band
