I just saw a story on how a group in Texas wants the state to secede from the US. My first response was HAS EVERYONE LOST THERE MINDS and does anyone realize how dumb that idea is? Seriously, how insane would you have to be to suggest that? Then I saw a poll where 50% of people agreed and wondered what the world is coming to. Personally I think it is the worst possible thing you could to "Save the Texas Economy" as the group called it.

One more quick addition: Does anyone realize that a state can't secede because wouldn't that be treason?

In article one section one of the Texas constitution is says that "Texas is a free and independent State, subject only to the Constitution of the United States..." (note that it does not state "...subject to the President of the United States..." or "...subject to the Congress of the United States..." or "...subject to the collective will of one or more of the other States...&quot

Neither the Texas Constitution, nor the Constitution of the united States, explicitly or implicitly disallows the secession of Texas (or any other "free and independent State&quot from the United States. Joining the "Union" was ever and always voluntary, rendering voluntary withdrawal an equally lawful and viable option (regardless of what any self-appointed academic, media, or government "experts"â"including Abraham Lincoln himselfâ"may have ever said).

Well, we might be better off without all those damn conservatives.

(No offense to any conservatives, and yes I know that there would be major repercussions if Texas seceded.)

Texas seceding is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of. It's even more ridiculous than Kirby998's armatar.

How is that no offense to conservatives? Maybe say redneck conservatives or Texas conservatives or something. Anyway, I think the idea of Texas seceeding it really stupid, about 1% chance of making it on their own, if that. I don't think anybody has taken this idea seriously.

Exactly my point.

Huh. I remember something from history that Texas was fought for to get annexed into U.S. We fought Mexico for its independence. Now that I have given a little cool fact on it, I am a bit surprised. Is Texas not wanting to be apart of America while Barack Obama is president? This is either a win-or-lose risky choice. Barack can either benefit us greatly or severely ruin U.S. Bold choice by Texas but that is a gigantic slap to Obama.

Could everyone please take a breath of the fresh air outside of LSD land? Texas will never leave any time soon.

There's separatist parties in a lot of the bigger states which border the coast, I believe. California probably has one, and Alaska has one for sure.
