I just saw a story on how a group in Texas wants the state to secede from the US. My first response was HAS EVERYONE LOST THERE MINDS and does anyone realize how dumb that idea is? Seriously, how insane would you have to be to suggest that? Then I saw a poll where 50% of people agreed and wondered what the world is coming to. Personally I think it is the worst possible thing you could to "Save the Texas Economy" as the group called it.
Okay, TX will never secede, and that's that. No way it could make a whole new government on it's own (I live in TX), b/c they tried that but had to join the US b/c they couldn't make one.
Well I actually thought this was going to be a joke when I saw the topic name, but then I Google it, and it seems to be all over the news. Just Google Texas Secedes, or Texas Seceded, and you will see what I mean. Although seriously I think this is all just people in Texas going on a rage, because McCain didn't win,and they don't like Obama(some possibly because of the way he is running the country). To tell you the truth I find it a bit childish how people react to certain situations though. I swear its quite sad to tell you the truth, but anyways I don't think that Texas will actually secede..in fact I am almost sure it won't happen. It sounds too much like an empty threat made by people who are just bitter over politics.
Guys, you need to remember that this is a radical group, it's not the voice of the entire population, or that of the government! Texas can live without America, but I doubt we are actually going to seceding. That will make us vulnerable to attack. The leaders of those groups are probably the East Texans, A,K,A Backwoods Baptist KKK radicals.
To me that site looks like a site put together by friends, not an official site to me.All I saw were some quotes, not any more info than that to me, and the government hasn't been talking about it so just like Snakebite said it is just a small group rather than the whole population.
Stop the fear-mongering. It's just a small group of radicals. They have existed since the American Civil War and have made no real impact up to this point.
Very true thelistman. It's a VERY small group, although the KKK here is pretty big, I don't think they are going to get very far... Especially with the Governor we have right now.
I would really hope they would secede. I really dont wanna be one of those socialist countries with all their bullshit. They would convert back to the republic of texas, and probably a lot of people would move there. I know i would. also they could do more bout the dam illegal mexican problem, instead of obama helping them secure THEIR south border. This guy really has no idea what hes doing. You really have no idea what socialism is, do you? Do some research, I don't feel like explaining it to you. The problem with illegal immigrants is exaggerated! Besides, Obama is NOT helping Mexico secure it's own south border. Also, peace should be strived for whenever possible. Would you rather be friends with a Muslim country or throw great, patriotic American lives at a suicide bomber? In fact, I've heard somewhere that Obama is helping the extremist situation more by turning young Muslims against extremists. Please, be informed before you post. . . .
hmmm think if texas did secede (if they can) mexico would declare war on them? Most population there is mexican...and they do want their land back...nobody stopping them if it happened

I happen to live in oregon where most citites population is mexicans. legals or not. Did you know theres even a gang of mexicans (mostly illegal) that spread from mexico all the way to the tip of oregon? There huge, and we need to do something about it. They could even take over L.A.
