It's 1x xp only (level #65), this level just looked very good for this testing as it produces all types of gems (-> you can use mana quickly to make high-grade prismatic gems), it had mana tap shrine with 3 uses and it has relatively long path that can be used especially at the beginning to create a mana farm.
I have already made a grade 20 gem once... Not in this current game but once in the last level. [url=http://armorgames.com/community/thread/3305675/all-things-gemcraft-0-here/page/22#post-3477595]
Oh great... lost that current game because browser crashed. Rounds in endurance are so long that there really should be a possibility to save during a round. It's like 1 wave in every 5-10 minutes with all that lag (fps is around 2-3 on 3 GHz dual-core with lowest graphics settings).
joojamoi, try Firefox, it has never crashed for me, even when I was playing one other game that was famed for crashing IE very often.
just earned 5M off #12 endurance (x3), and I'm pretty much finished with endurances... will now try earning 1M off regular rounds. Last round was running for 40 hours (19 hours real time) and ended up at wave 118 while I was already sleeping. Yep, I'd like the ability of auto-saving mid-endurance, I am afraid that this will require too big programming effort, as well as will introduce bugs.
emm.... i guess wave 200 is enough for endurance, otherwise increase the mana pool until 10M, 230k mana is too small, or change the HP increment, that's the big problem
hope this thread will be the main thread of Gemcraft, too many GC thread
Best gem so far, level 18 - going higher would take FOREVER, but with enough level 11 or so red/orange traps it goes decently fast because the time it takes to spam make 6 gems and combine you get all your mana back.
vesperbot: I use firefox. It didn't crash because of the game but instead because another window crashed when I pressed back-button... It has something to do with embedded pdf-objects which have caused some problems before as well.
see Lankhr, he made that gem at wave 105, and I expect him to prepare for bombing the heck out of GoE to end the level. So it's probable that there was a bunch of grade 10+ duals which have been turned into a grade 18.
About endurance - yep, the most lag is caused by traps firing at hypersonic speed, with all the displaying of fluorescent zapping bolts, with fading and that sort, the FPS increases a lot if you will hide the SWF from foreground by other browser windows or minimization.
Lankhr, I have watched your YouTube video for the beginning, but it goes so fast I can't really tell how you get to do all the things.
You build a lot of traps, bomb a lot of waves and still have mana to increase mana pool?
Can you perhaps enlighten us with more precise detail of how you fight the first 5 or 6 waves of monsters and your original skills/gems at start of game?
Lankhr, you may believe me, it does triple sometimes. You just place a grade 1-2 yellow in trap, anger monsters beyond the top damage of the trap and watch some monsters have health bars above them, and if you'll query them, you'll see a dent of 1-2 HP with armor that still exceeds the maximum damage of a yellow in the trap.
Karsten, with 15-20 maxed mana traps, as I can see in the first part of Lankhr's video, you will get top mana before you'll be able to collect a grade 11 off freshly created grade 6 gems :P well, I expect the mana income to be about 4k per frame, or per hit (about 2 frames at top speed), whic is more than enough for everything. I can't stand to lose mana due to the filled mana pool, that's why I rarely place more than 8 mana traps.
Yep Lankhr, about the SWF thing... I've got what you meant. While you play the game, there's a browser window where the game runs. The game is in fact the SWF, there are more of them, some flash-ads are widely known to exist. You just switch to another window, preferrably expanded to cover the whole desktop. The SWF player (the software that you have to install prior to playing any flash games, once only, and sometimes it tries to update) detects that the window with it running is completely obscured, so it decides to not to spend time redrawing the game screen, which saves a lot of time.
About your vid with endurance - note that at #12 you have 3 orange gems of grade 2 with different mana leech values, the leftmost has 3.3 (level 9 orange mastery, with level 10 it's 3.4 or 3.5) mana leech per hit, so if you'd combine it with the second one, you'd get 4.6-4.8 mana grade 3 orange, which is abit better than grade 4 you had at the start of a video.
Note also that the towers on your left, those that overlap the entrance to the wizard tower, waste their power to shoot at the monsters that get banished before the towers' shots land, thus receiving no damage.
