Do you think it's possible if your on a planet 1,000 light years away you could look at earth through a really really strong telescope(even though one couldn't see that far)you could see earth 1,000 years ago?

That's really wierd how There is much more than what society has realized and solved.

Well, not trying to be a fun-killer, but how are we suppose to get to a planet 1000 Light-Years away? Even if we develope some type of technology Millions of years later, we would still take 1000 years to get to that planet. That means we also need a new type of technology to make us live about 935 more years.

There is no limit to technology, if the human race lasts long enough I believe that they will create technology that could get us there in minutes or seconds.

In addition, the average life expectancy by then will most likely be far longer. So even if it did take 1000 years, who knows, maybe humans will be living longer than that.

It has been said that the first person to live to 500 is alive today. I'm not sure the length of the life matters it is the length of the mind.

I'm not sure we will get to places dozens of light years away in seconds but eventually I could see us getting close to the speed of light, EVENTUALLY but not anytime in the forseeable future.

Uhh no that is not what the topic is about.

But I think that if you were to do that it would take you so long to get to another planet you would already be dead.

Which is why people suggest cryogenically freezing themselves to slow the aging process.

In a way wouldn't that kill you also. God designed us to live as long as he wants not so we can control our age.

Eh, no.
Blood would be replaced temporarily by another liquid, while all our cells are frozen in time, preventing death. Any damaged cells could be repared by future technologies.

Besides, how would you know God's will?

because he created us for a purpose and if there is no more purpose for us in life then God has no reason to keep us alive, but thats just my opinion

Our purpose is to tell others about him and praise and worship him.

A lot of the history for billions of years past is discovered based on looking out into the night sky and seeing galaxies billions of light years away. Like Pixie said about looking at the sun. That's how we have any of the clues as to the past before earth and our solar system.

Emphasize 1000 years. A long time after we are dead.

That is completely possible, but the Earth has not changed dramatically in the past millennium, at least, not to the extent that it can be noticed with the atmosphere hazing around it. But there would really need to be very complex beings and some form of survival for that to happen. Besides, if they are so far away, what good does it do us?
