A 13 year old girl in 2003 was told to strip search down to her underwear because the administration thought she was carrying Ibuprofen on her. The administration did not call the parents, a police officer, or anyone. They told her to strip down to search her. The case has reached the Supreme Court of the US. They will soon decide whether or not schools can order strip searches.

So how much power should school administrators have?

That's just messed up. I think the school Principal liked this girl a little bit to much.

those people are perverted

I expected as much for someone to say something like that. Still, it's not funny. Try to observe from the point of view of the girl and the administrators.

No school employee needs to be strip searching anyone. That's a power they do not need. Especially not for ibuprofen, an over the counter drug. And becouse one student said something, that's not probable cause or reasonable suspicion, so there was no way that was a legal search. If there was reasonable suspicion that the girl had drugs (but something worse then an OTC pill for headaches), and the search needed to go that far they should have gotten a police officer to conduct the search. The school violated her rights, probably becouse of a perverted principal or at least a power hungry one. If their looking for drugs, they do have drug sniffing dogs for that. Someone needs to tell students about their 4th Amendment rights to refuse a search, and someone also needs to ensure that the schools learn their not the police.

Ibuprofen can be bought in any store. It's just a pain reliever.

Someone needs to tell students about their 4th Amendment rights to refuse a search, and someone also needs to ensure that the schools learn their not the police.

Even then, how much power does a 13 year old girl have? Even if she is told her 4th Amm. rights, will she remember them, or even exercise them? Not likely. When a principal or administrator tells you to do something, at the age of 13, you are most likely going to obey.
