Money; All war has money involved whether it's from the start or from half way through. Oil, some sort of resource comes into play no matter what. Your going to want to offer protection for the oil companies and the companies that have those resources so you can make cheaper trade for protecting them.
Power; Some but not all war is for power or the show that we are stronger. The 9/11 attacks on America showed that Al Queda has no fear of us. In our own hotheadedness we attacked back showing we have no fear of war and we control this our own way and will not be pushed around.
Religion Differences; Not alot of wars that involve America have this. But many middle eastern wars do. The ones that believe this land is our land and such over there own religious books but don't realize your just saying god in a different language. Isn't it not possible the two religions seen the same thing? Maybe different places different times.
Anyone else care to argue my points or just add to them?
War is caused by two groups of people wanting the same thing that can help their comminities survive. They eventually fight for who has the right to use this resource and many lives are lost for something as water, land, or food. Also these people are possibly greedy because they never think they can share the water or food.
I think the main cause is disagreements or lack of compatibility for example America had problems with communist countrys because of disagreements on how to run a country.
In short, anything that starts a war is not worth fighting about.
Not really, there are plenty of sensible wars. Even if war isn't always the best option, it's not totally stupid all of the time. I'll be glad when humanity stops killing each other though. The way I see it is, we're all on Earth together, we're one species, why kill each other?
War is simply caused by disagreement. That is almost always, if not always, the cause. Disagreement over something and the two sides won't agree on a solution peacefully.
Nope, war is mostly used to remove economic obstacles.
That is another frequent cause of war. Didn't think of that. However, disagreement is also a major cause.
Nations dont fight over whether abortion is right or wrong. What disagreements are you talking about?
They don't yet, and I'm not saying they will, but you never know. If it becomes enough of a heated situation then nations very well could fight over it. That probably won't happen for a very long time though. What disagreements am I talking about? Anything that people feel strongly enough about that they don't want to peacefully sort it out, but would rather eliminate the other opinion. That may sound like a very broad answer, but I'm trying to think past current conflicts and what the nature of war is.

Nations are too occupied by their own economic success. I really doub the people in power give a shit about another nations laws on abortion or whatever. They only interfere with another nation when they become an obstacle to their growth.

Currently, yes. In the future, who knows? You never know what is going to happen in the future, a series of events could just happen to leave the government with nothing better to do than go after another countries abortion laws. I do admit it sounds quite ridiculous though.
