Well, its not to me. God gave me the gift of life, I come into the world. Then my grandma gets me saved. I'm then forced to go through 13 years of school full of hateful kids, making fun of me all day. Girls look at me like I'm a freak, They use me as a threat. (example: If your not quiet I'll sick Sean on you. That came from a teacher) I'm 17 and no girlfriend ever. I've even tried praying for a break: "Please god, I just want to be respected. Some one to like me, someone to treat me like I deserve." Nothing, I just got beat up that next day. Well, now I'm an Ex-Christian, (saved) who is condemned to unhappiness, condemned to hate, and condemned to hell.
So if your into psychology, a reverend, or deeply into religion, please try to help me figure out why god hates me, and of course elaborate on the topic.
we use religion to bring order to the society. some wars may be caused by religion, but to be honest, some wars could occur because of the lack of religion. without religion, then what would govern our life. what would make us differentiate what is right and what is wrong?
i am aware that some people believe religion is stupid, but that's probably because they are not aware of what's life without religion...
may i remind that the church was the institution which saved europe from the dark age. the conversion of some barbarians stopped them from causing further damage, and the church was the richest institution then which helped in the rebuilding of europe.
many people today are confused about religion, and they start doing bad things for the name of god. but who knows god? and who can see god? and who dares tell people their acts are from god. is it not us who governs our actions? it's probably not religion to blame but simply stupid human actions and their claims towards religion...
i dont care if god exists or not, but religion is probably the best thing right now that brings order. without it, then what's good doing good?
True that. I am also atheist, so take my opinon or not but I do beleive that religion is based off of man's desire to answer the question's he cannot figure out himself. And just because I don't beleive in a higher being doesn't make me any less of average person. I don't know if it is nessecary but it it's here to stay. Although you should respect others beleifs, weither Atheist or Christian.
yeah true, but religion has a higher meaning than the government. infact, you can say that religion is just like the government except the church doesn't send people to jail, but the best they could do is excommunicate...
the government is almost equal to religion because it to can cause civil war or what we call 'freedom fighters'. so... the government too has some drawbacks which we can forgive, why not religion as well?
some people do good for the sake of religion and are doing pretty good because of it. you'd probably be familiar with some of these people who sets good examples to other people to do good and not wrong like saints and what have you...
government are just the iron fist, they're like the second barrier to order. religion makes sure they don't do bad, but if all doesn't work, the government would have to take over. imagine the burden you'd give if religion doesn't exist. then the government would be the only one implementing order.
omg, i was totally wrong when i said "the church governs our life" then i said is it "us who governs our life"...my mistake... let me rephrase myself...
the church governs our life, it tells us what to do and what not to do. but "we are responsible with our life." what we do is caused by us alone, the church only helps us dicide what's the right choice...
its not ordered in Israel's religion.."thou shall kill people for your country", or "thou shall kill so you can be heard"..
maybe "thou shall kill people for god's sake", but we didn't offend their god or anything right?
Well... I don't rely on god anymore. If people hate you because you look weird, such as you are kind of fat, then go work out, or if your face is covered in blemishes, use Proactiv. Nothing in this world is dependent on god, rather it is dependent on the choices you make.
not really, i meant the church helps us decide which is better...whatever we choose will be our responsibility. just like our parents giving suggestions on what course to take when you go to college, but whatever you choose, it's your decision not your parents.
that's why i said its wrong to say we fight because God told us to. because we're not even sure that he did so yet we do it anyways. sounds like they fight because they themselves said so...
let me summarize...
god is you role-model, he gave you freedom which means you can do what you decide... but he wishes you decide for what's good... or else you'll suffer the consequence..
So, you just kinda said there...that churc doesn' t do anything, cuz we decide for ourselves...
the way how you said it is actually kinda true... the church doesn't do anything with our decisions, only influence them. we decide for ourselves... that's why basically its not religion's fault that we're at war, it's because of human decisions. even if you say that religion is the one that influences war, it's still human decision because doesn't religion teaches us to forgive? then why did they chose to fight. probably their religion gave them 2 decisions to make and it was up to them to decide...
forgive or war?
and they decided for war...
DDX kinda have a point also, nothing in this world is dependent on God, rather it is dependent on the choices we make...
although the world in not dependent on God, god still influences our decision, and that's what makes him important in our life...
His name was job.(it sounds like jobe) Yes God is testing you to see if you are faithful to him it may seem like he abandoned you but he is testing you. Hard times never last forever.

I might point out that most people don't rely on God for that. Ultimately in this life, it's up to you to take care of yourself. I pray for strength to work out if I get fat, not liposuction. You are sort of right about the last part, though. Very little in THIS world depends on God (if he exists), other than creation obviously.
I think that most people at one point or another fall back on religion hoping that a greater being will help them. Some religious people believe that if you pray, God will give you the strength to solve your problems or go through it. My question is, if the belief in God and praying really can give you strength, then is it not the power of belief that gives you strength and not God.
God will not come down and create a miracle for you, you have to do something about your problem, no matter how hard it is, I think you need to solve your problems physically.
About going to hell, why would some almighty being in the sky really condemn you to hell for eternity for committing 'evil' that is indeterminable from the goodness of man on the scale of goodness where god is infinitely good? It seems very harsh and farfetched
