though people say they are for girls >_>

Thus reminding me of the adage 'wine before beer is queer'.

I'm a fan of Australian wine, actually. There's some incredible Shiraz that comes out of McClarenvale. too bad they had a drought in '08~

Really? Being 12 I wouldn;t have thought you'd like the taste of wine. I didn't start liking wine til I was 18, and even then I wasn't mad keen.

I hate alcopops so much. They taste like a fizzy drink but get you drunk. weird stuff.

My mum bought me and my brothers a crate of those things when we were aged 8,9,10 and 11, thinking it was fruit juice. We got absolutely plastered. Hated them ever since.

I thought Alts Dad was a wine connoisseur or something.

O yea, also @ Pixie, anyone your age should be well versed in the art of drink mixing. It's never about quality, just about quantity or strength or preferably both. I recomend vodka with anything.

My dad is a whisky connoissseur, but that didn't make me like it when I was 12. I just find it hard to believe someone that young could like wine, or even beer for that matter. Your taste buds just aren't developed yet and so it just tastes horrible.

I can pick out the nuances of flavor in red wine. And white. There is one vintner called Mollydooker who has a few very great wines. One of the best is a Shiraz. . .relatively heavy in tannins, but i you let it breathe, it's earthy, hearty, and has a lot of great jammy notes.

Yes but in the alcohol thread ages ago I remeber something alt said abouthaving the taste for it cos of his dad or something. Though I remember drinking alcohol when I was younger not in grat quantities though just sips of this and watered down that.

I guess, but wine and food are completely different things mate. I pride myself in my food pallet but for wine it is harder. It may be easier for some but I have yet to see a High end food critic who is also a wine connoisseur (2 People thats it). I know the difference between wines, I like how it tastes, but I cannot judge the price of each wine/ or where it came from like I can with food. Wine also can get pretty expensive as my dad has showed me on our business trips to china, bottles of wine can cost upward of 1000+ USD or 8000 RMB.

In my opinion, my wine pallet is actually more refined. Letting the wine wash over your pallet is how you do it, and the aftertaste after you swallow can be a gateway to a lot of the flavors. Price is tough to judge, but varietal isn't too hard for me, at least with most varietals.

Not being rude or anything, but I just don't buy it. 12 is far too young to even like the taste of alcohol, let alone two years before that. As for the having developed a sophisticated pallet that would take most adults years to build, it's just too farfetched.

Indeed. Vodka red bull used to be a favourite of mine. Keeps you buzzing.

At ten, I just liked the taste. I can pick up stuff better now. I'm not some sort of critic or anything, but I have a pallet that's at least somewhat sophisticated for my age. :/

Um that would damage your pallet because of the slight acidity of the wine :|
