what if a wall surrounded every city in the world? a huge wall, as tall as sky scrapers, as thick as a house is wide. impenetrable and unclimbable, with razor blades sticking out of it. anti aircraft cannons at its top to destroy renegade planes, and soldiers with machine guns. would society all over the world benefit from this kind of wall? no wars, and no interaction with the outside world. protection from nuclear war, a silent and invincible guardian, unclimbable and indestructible. so would this wall be a good thing?

We already have these walls, but they can not bee seen, yet are there. Just look around, look at the world, where already there.

Anyway, the walls would not be a good thing, that would mean there is no freedom, we'd all be locked up in our cities. What would the walls acomplish? Would they gain a sense of security?

i think you are right LiL_GaNgSta_BlAzE. a wall like this would be the boundary between freedome and imprisonment.

and yes, i do think there are metaphorical walls out there that cannot be seen. walls that cannot be broken...

Also, it would lead to the death of many cities. ., .most of them aren't self-sufficient.

a wall like this may even lead to social de-evolution. no freedom, no contact with the outside world, nothing. society would kill itself to get away from this kind of wall.

Thank you! :3

You know, this is very true, but what I really didn't get was, if we can move out and go about from these walls. I mean are we the people allowed to go outside these walls? or is this some sort of Marshle law?

Exactly. Also, the melding and coalescing of cultures would immediately cease, leading to both the literal and figurative death of cities. . .and humanity.

Most cities would die, trade is an important factor fro lots of cites, for us it would mean no more happy meals, but fro some it would be no corn, for example

No... because the waste builds up within the city, and cannot be dumped into the surrounding forests or lakes. So we would end up being poisoned by our own wastefulness.

Wow that is really gross. Also like we would run out of resources and food also.

See that is what I mean by make the thread clear. Right now it's full of gaps and we don't know if these walls are there for protection or just there. How does the city work/function?

yeah, it seems that there are lots more cons that pros to the walls. however, there would be no wars of any kind, and also no one would be able to cut down the rain forest.

I'm thinking that would probably cause the end of us, over time all the cities would die off if they couldn't get the walls down. If they did get the walls down though it would probably signal a new start for humanity.

No, I disagree, wars will still be fought. There would still be people who invade another city to gain it's resources atc.

And we would still cut down trees, this time a lot more. I mean now we cut them down for countries but then we'd be cutting them down for cities! Plus without those tree's we'd lose a lot of our everyday items.

Not if there's no one left on the outside. That would be very hard to do though, there'd be groups of people who manage to stay outside the walls.

This is very interesting though. The people inside of the walls would evolve differently than the people outside...

So, what would they find if they broke down the walls? WOuld the other species accept them?

Sounds like something in a science fiction book.

SAls0o, why would the walls be there? Eventually, even the government would be fed up with the imprisonment, thin 'Ich ben ein Berliners!' ad tear down this wall.
