North Korea has defied world powers and carried out and underground test of a nuclear device Russian officials said is comparable to the bombs that wiped out Hiroshima and Nagasaki. North Korea has already tested out a rocket and tensions are increasing between the world and the Communist state.
So, what does everyone think to that. North Korea has been told time and time again to step down from producing nuclear weapons, but now it has apparently made a successful one. What do you see happening as a result of this?

I think the reason we are condemning it is not just on the fact that it is a nuclear program, but the fact that they are developing a nuclear program and a military, while their people are starving and living horribly.

So as long as you are a developed nation you have the right to nuclear weapons? I just don't buy that argument. I think it's designed to give us Westerners the moral high ground. The US makes threats too, as does Israel, as does Russia, as does China. Logic doesn't come into it. Of course I'd rather North Korea spent the money on infrastructure, but it's not the US, or any other nation's place for that matter to tell them what to do.

well when they've made threats to basically every nation and defied international laws that's when other countries have the right to say they shouldn't have nuclear weapons

It's not like the US haven't defied international law, on numerous occassions too.

yeah i suppose your technically right but i think we're a bit more responsible than N. Korea and yes i'm basing that solely because we aren't controlled by a murderous dictator that wears fruity shades and probably touches himself to pictures of corey hart the canadian singer guy who sang sunglasses at night

Lol, I take the point that N.Korea is run by a nutter, but if that's grounds to invade a country, then it's a pretty long list.

i just don't believe that nuclear weapons should be in the hands of people that have very little if any qualms about using them

I don't think the people who currently have nukes, ie Russia, China, USA, Britain, India, Pakistan or France would have that many qualms about using them either.

In any case if N.Korea did develop and use nukes, the Japanese would have the excuse they've been waiting for to invade, plus South Korea, and maybye the USA.

i'd have to disagree with that statement

they did develop nukes and they tested one underground and were shootin' off missiles the same day

I meant to say develop, and use on another country, not just blowing the crap out of their own country testing them.

Yes, but the U.S. can be trusted with different types of power, like nukes, because we are not seeking more domination over other countries, and revenge, and we do not want to exterminate others.

You're coming after us Brits. I just know it.

That's a pretty dubious assumption when considering US foreign policy for the past half century.

Preemptive strikes aren't self-defense if a serious threat wasn't established in the first place, lol.
