Religion helps alot i like to celebrate me being christian i like church and its just something i love i feel like i need one because it makes me strive to do better things and i pray when im in hard times {sad, confused angry sad etc.]

Well.. those are certainly things that are relevant in your life, but they don't go far in forming an opinion that your life experiences have that same element in common with *all* people.

Just because you love religion, you feel like you need one, you pray during hard times, doesn't mean everyone does, or wants to.

Im christian and i dont try to be like jesus. That whole WWJD (what would jesus do) Is nothingness. You cant be like christ, thus theres no point in trying.

Somers, no offense, but that's what Christians do. Christians will fail, because we are not divine as Jesus was, but we try to overcome sin whenever it comes our way. But I do agree that WWJD is overused and people don't really understand it. This one guy punched someone with a hand that hand a WWJD ring on it, and he said that Jesus would defend his beliefs.

Good point, Distance. I've always seen religion as only an improvement in my life, but sometimes religion can be the cause of making someone do crazy things (justifying wars on religion, for example). Ultimately it depends how you interpret it.

I know, I read your above post. I would've directed it at you if I thought you were trying to force it on people. I was just saying that Distance made a point.

Very true - you never said anyone 'had to' - but from your original post...

i would think you need one is my opinion just something to celebrate and beleive in

I just want to know why you think that you would *need* a religion. I mean.. you made a thread about it. You posted your opinion, but not an explanation for that opinion. I'm an intellectual, and I enjoy discussing philosophy & debate; hell, it's why I post in this forum. So.. is there a reason, or is it just.. gut feeling?

Yeah.. I get that. But in your first post, you said that you thought that you (I'm assuming royal 'you', maybe that's my mistake) need a religion. Which would be to say that everyone needs a religion.

You're giving me a case for why you like having a religion, but no case for why everyone needs one.

Everyone doesn't need religion, it's a personal choice and only you can make it.

Did you *read* that post? Or the original post? Or my other posts? Do you comprehend the question I'm asking?

I haven't once disrespected your opinion; I'm curious about it's formation.

If you continue to avoid the question, I'll assume you have absolutely no basis for your opinion whatsoever, and can't explain the simple motivation for voicing your thoughts.

Clearly.

'bug off'? That's not very nice. You mentioned 'burning in Hell' so I'll take it you go with one of the Bible inspired faiths - and I thought it taught so much about being kind to others. Tsk tsk.

No offense, but you might not want to make a post with regards to which you can't discuss at even the most basic level.
