No, I'm not here to bring you a video made by a common civilian saying "ZOMFG, TEH END IZ NEE4AAR!!!!!!!1!!!1!!!!", instead I'm here to show you a nice video I found while using my new "StumbleUpon" toolbar, with the function "Stumble Video". I chose GUBA.com as my stumbling site, and I came upon a very interesting topic about the mayan calendar. Including the main theory of how they made it, theories about the disappearance of the Mayans, and then of course, the supposed doom of 2012. The extremely interesting 45 minute long show (hosted by the history channel), Decoding History, is right Here!
I know, it's an amazing subject and an amazing theory! All the evidence piles up, it's not exactly PROOF but there's just SO MUCH FREAKIN' EVIDENCE, IT'S AMAZING!
So what? It's speculative. The real scientists talk about historical facts, and the narration just reading into it and suggests "Maybes". You'll note that he keeps saying "Some believe will be the end". They cover 'theories' that have been cooked up, that they even say in the video that no experts are subscribing to, and are offering other more plausible explanations. Even at the end of the video - the university professors state their own opinions which are that - nothing is going to happen. The only one who thinks that something is going to happen is the Authors - who you'll note, are just writers, and not experts. They stands to make a buck off people who panic and desperately want to *know* more about this crap.
As for these Katun predictions & prophecies they're talking about - it's like fortune telling. They're so general that any *true* believer will think that it's so unbelievable accurate, because they will interpret those predictions in such a way that they are *always* accurate. Take a look at the predictions of Nostradamus (another total scam artist) and you'll see the same thing.
This is a joke if you think this is somehow 'evidence' that the world is going to end. Mayan history is fascinating, but it's not prophecy.

There's a lot to bite there, dude. They used astronomy and several different theories to make their prophecy, and each one was dead on. They're not all that broad.
Also, I blame the spanish, if they didn't f**k up all the artifacts people could be preparing or sleeping without worry.

Not astronomy - astrology. And no. No they're weren't 'dead on'. They were general statements about turmoil, change, leaders - nothing specific at all, and a 20 year span for the prediction to 'come true'. You could take any of those prophecies, any 20 year span & find something in human history that would make it match up and make sense if you interpret it to serve your own purposes.
It's a farce. I'm shocked anyone is dumb enough to believe this crap.

We're here to debate, not flame. Don't stray off topic to start turning this into a "debate" show on fox.
astrology
Excuse me, astrology.

Unless you can prove this to me, I won't beleive you. If you are going to have the "Pictures or it didn't happen" attitude, don't expect me to be any different.
Lol, I love how that one guy says that we haven't explored alternative energy sources right when they're taking a shot of a bunch of wind turbines.
That is pretty funny, but we do need to look more into it :\\ I've heard of wave technology, where they use waves to make electricity. I think that's a good idea instead of oil. We need less oil :P and electric cars may be slower, but they're cost efficient (I've heard of cars that actually recharge just when they're standing still) and have low emissions.

From the 1900s on, he's pretty much right. 1900-20: WWI 1920-40: Failure of the League of Nations, rise of Nazis 1940-60: WWII, the start of Israel 1960-80: Vietnam, protests, that Ahmedenejad guy coming to power 1980-00: Gulf Wars, start of the Bush Idiocy 2000-20: And here we are. High point and end of the Bsuh Idiocy, Iraq War, Afghan war, genocide in Darfur, and much more.
Yep, I'm not going to go doomsday mental, but I can see this happening, I love to have proof - I hate things that have evidence, HiddenDistance is wrong, it's nowhere near Fortune Telling, here's the thing that turns the tide of this arguement - Did ANY fortune teller say the computer would come out? No! They said so when it came into production - These people know things about Astrology - So much about it with no telescope, no distance calculators, they know too much about the universe - If they had lived until this year, they would probably be the most super-power ***-kickers of the millenia.... These folks are so developed in these things that they could probably have told the future bang on this year, I only hope that the doomsday means that a new age is coming - The Mayan Age
If their god does come, I would love it - it might not happen, but I do think that there's a chance this would - they've gotten so much out of these codex's and books, it's a wonder how they did it in the first place - We have no such telling of how this happens, even their calender is amazing, I want to have one myself
- H
P.S GO MAYANS! P.P.S Mayans were also like the Aztecs, they were both attacked, they both lived with one another in Tenochticlan, the grandest city of the time - So spanish conquistadors say...
Unless you can prove this to me, I won't beleive you. If you are going to have the "Pictures or it didn't happen" attitude, don't expect me to be any different.
I don't need to prove anything - you're the one that's making the outrageous claims that this is true & not backing it up with sufficient evidence. You show me 1 Katun prophecy that couldn't *possibly* mean anything other then one very specific thing, and couldn't apply to *any* other period in history and you might have something.

I didn't seen the Mayan prediction about the computer either. Fortune tellers & tarot card readers - if they're smart, don't work like that. They make general, vague predictions that could be interpreted in many different ways, so that people that love this stuff will twist it & turn it into something that's 'accurate', when it's completely general & could apply to *anything*.

hes got a point.
the oracle in dapne, when asked by a king whether he should go into battle, replied "a great kingdom will be destroyed" the king went into battle, and lost. the great kingdom that was destroyed was his!
you see, these sorta things are vague, and can mean just about anything.
