would be if a religion was forcing you to believe or die in which islamic people did not do.
So you've never heard of the Islamic technique where they point a sword at your throat and say "Covert or die"? That's how they grew so fast. Forced conversion.
I think that Islam does have the potential to become the #1 religion in the world. Someone said that a lot of countries have problems with them but I would have to disagree with that. Being an American I'm aware that there are people who dislike Muslims but I think what most people don't like is extremists.
The information provided by goumas13 is very interesting but there is one thing that I'd like to say about the last comment. Religion is not nessecarily the cause of wars it's true that religious tensions have been responsible for wars but ultimately people start wars and then try to justify them with religion.
Yes it's secular from the moment that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was the states leader, then it wasn't and now isn't that much secular with Recep Tayyip ErdoÄan.
I do not believe Islam will be the #1 religion. Claims that they are the fastest growing are spurious at best because there isn't really a way to measure that sort of thing, and if you think there is, then go read up on what it's like to even take a census to count how many people are in a country (or city, or province) at once, and you'll realize that it's not possible to make this sort of claim unless it's so apparent that it becomes indisputable.
Accounts that Islam is the fastest growing religion come from immigration rates in the "west" and birth rates in countries already identified as Muslim, but there are valid statistics that support religious growth of quite a few faiths, including different Christian sects, deists, Hindus, Wiccans, and "secularists" (i.e., atheists or agnostics).
