How fast is the processor on your computer? I just want to get an idea what the range of speeds are for the players in this community. I read some of the feedback on the games on AG, and I often see comments about players experiencing slowdown when they play a game. I'd like to know what the speeds are on these computers that are experiencing slowdown to keep in mind for my own programs.

Thanks in advance.

I game a lot so my laptop is clocked at 2.8 GHz

and my desktop (1) is clocked at 4.6 GHz and my dad's desktop (2) is at 3.3 Ghz/

all of them run windows xp. because vista is epic fail.

I agree with DDX but xp doesn't handle more than one core properly.

My computer is quad core with windows 7 (legit).

hmg. obviously you have not secured yourself the new patch.

I'm gussing if it is a laptop 2.2 desktop 3.0 max. Unless you build your own laptops /desktops from scratch, you usually wouldn't be able to buy one at greater than those speeds unless you are willing to spend about 2000 dollars more than you need to.

I don't game much at all and move around a lot, so I use a duo-core 3.0GHz laptop, but no graphics card.

Oops, typo fail. That was supposed to be 2.0GHz.

3.0.... guize.... no jokes please. a 3.0 GHz laptop bought legally without stripped parts is like 2-3 thousand dollars.

A patch has nothing to do with how XP handles (or doesn't) handle multiple cores it's capable of hyper-threading but new processor like i7 and quad cores won't work.

Plus I prefer windows 7 it's windows vista that was actually made well.

no, but the patch allows xp to run multiple cores simultaneously. because it runs itself side by side, although it takes up more memory, it allows it still worth the sacrifice.

Yes in the case of hyper-threading but not for quad cores and i7 processors. Here go read this

I have 4 computers, I know I posted this somewhere else, In the video game section. Anyway 2 of my computers run windows xp, and are making the switch to linux, my newer laptop runs vista and deep freeze so I dont have to download anti-virus stuff and not get viruses. my other laptop is like my "script kiddy" laptop it runs astro security.

all of them run deep freeze (god why can't macs do that?) except the linux one... because I havent figured a way to do that yet...

Why are you deep freezing them all? Isn't that just a hassle if you want to install or update something? I don't think they is a program for linux deep freeze and I don't think you would need it. Seeing that there are NO viruses for linux.

You still haven't answered my question of what linux distribution your using.
