Here's the list of best and worst tourists. The French came in dead last. The top 10 tourists were: Japan, Britain, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Holland, Australia, Sweden, USA, Denmark.

I live in the US and I worked at a restaurant for a few months. The British seemed to be really nice, along with Indians and Arabs. There were a lot of Polish, Lithuanians, and Bosnians. Most of them were nice, but there were a few bad ones. I never dealt with a French tourist, but I have heard some horror stories with them.

So why is it that the French are the worst? Anyone ever deal with them?

Well it's all about how they live in their own county. There are some French tourists that would be nice, but because the general culture there clashes with ours, it's going to appear as though they're all rude.

I like the most tourists. Although some can be very rude and without any kind of manners. I don't think that any country has the best tourists though, I believe it is different from person to person.
I've met tourist from a country who were provoking everyone they could, but I've met tourists from the same country who were nice.

I get the point though. With an overall look, some countries just have better acting tourists than others. Of what I've experienced, English and Japanese are nice - but best of all is the few I've met from New Zealand.

Some months ago, I was in a train, on my way to a concert in Amsterdam, when a group of British tourist joined the train from the Schiphol airport. It was a group of 5 people, with 2 girls and 3 guys. The girls were really nice, but the guys were drunk. One of them even fell right on top of me >_> Well, I can say that the traintrip wasn't so boring anymore xD They also sang some songs and danced xD

Well, we all seem to wear hollister, abercrombie, etc, where ever we go.

Simple observation:
Warm: T-shirt
Cold: Hoody
Very cold: Jacket

/stereotype

Anyway, I think the behavior of the tourists depend on the place they go to.
Scandinaves (or rather Danes) usually complain about it being to hot or too cold in Denmark; this does not stop us from going to somewhere warm, sleep in the sun all day, and drink all night, and therefor be annoyed and grumpy from dehydration and hangovers.
Or go somewhere cold, spend all day trying to actually have fun in the cold snow, and then drink all night, being annoyed and grumpy due to the cold and hangovers.

And for my own experiences: Asians usually are very polite, but unable to find the places they want to go. And likes taking pictures. Swedes drink a lot, cannot talk in a comprehensible way, and are very noisy. Germans drives fast on the small roads, and use most of their time on the beach whether it is warm or not, and I have heard Americans lack knowledge about the other countries, and therefor actually never achieve the goal with their vacation (Heard a story from another Dane, who had met two Americans. They both looked quite confused and she asked why that was. Seemingly they had heard that the Scandinavia had lots of mountains fit for skiing, and since Denmark was the cheapest, they went here. The only country in the Scandinaves without neither snow nor mountains)

Unfortunately most American tourists are naive College students and they wear hollister and abercrombie because they're brains have been fried from partying too much.

I actually met an Aussie he was pretty cool. He was really friendly, and loud too but mostly friendly.

Best Japanese they make are nice and spend many money.
Worst Italian (Sorry Italy) we make too much noise and we talk very loud. Also some times British tourist are bad too, they have probably the same problems with the Italian tourists.
The truth is that everything depends from the person, so I am just guessing.

I remember reading that the Japanese tend to spend less because their vacations are spread out over the year instead of one long vacation like many Americans. This is one of the reasons why Americans are on the top best tourist list, because we tend to spend more money while on vacation.

But I do not have much experience in the matter, I live in Tulsa, OK, most people from other countries are here on business or for school.

I guess the French are the worst tourists because they have such different customs. I don't know if that's a big contributor or what, but I've been taking French and a lot of the culture is a bit... quirky.

They're not necessarily bad tourists though. Just... quirky. In my experience, anyway.

I would think us Americans would be worse than the French... Don't get me wrong, I'm as patriotic as the next (American) guy, but there's no denying that Americans tend to be somewhat rude. Again, at least in my experience.

Canadians. Every year, thousands come down from BC to Seattle, and bunch take a stop in our little city. They act, well, like we do, and that's not good for tourists.

My family that lives in America is Italian, and even though they aren't natives of Italy, they fit that description. I'm like that too. Italian men also tend to think that they are the best looking men on the planet (that's where I get that from, my Italian blood).

yeah great topic to let out all the prejudices we have about people from different countries.
i think its ridicoulus to talk about "the british" "germans" or "americans", as far as i am concerned i think that every person is an individual responsible for his behavior. and only if someone has met 10,20,30 stupid/misbehaving ....(place for nation) it does not mean that they are all alike.

and mostly these stereotypes have the form of a selffullfilling(funny so much ls and fs) prophecy

Well, that is why it is in our experiences.
The German part with my talk is because there is at least 100 German tourists driving by to the beaches every day.
The Swedes is because I for once am a Dane, and have seen them sitting by the bar and drinking and singing and stuff.

And lets just take it for good:
Stereotyping is not necessarily bad, while prejudice is.
Does not have to be the same thing, but when you have seen and heard about 5-6-7-20 cases of these things going one way, well, you are bound to box it up as a stereotype behavior.

Like this:
Danes drink a lot, are quite layback, are said to be the happiest nation, but still complain about everything and anything, are usually said to be the capital of either Sweden, Ikea or Oslo, or sometimes even the capital of Copenhagen, to tell you the truth.
On vacations, we usually drink a lot, sleep, complain, and drink some more, and we will still be sad when we leave.
We like going really warm places (though we hate the heat) or really cold places with snow (though we have cold too), because we do not have a real summer here, or a real winter.
Self stereotyping.
