Spiders; the creepy insects with eight legs.

Though there are over 40,000 different species of spiders, each is different in its each individual way. They may scare you, or even interest you, they are majestic creature and masters of architecture. With web designs ranging from funnels to flat sheets, to even none at all, they manage to capture prey with skill full stealth and agility.

Even though the thought of these creepy critters strikes fear in many, the title is undeserved. Spiders usually don't attack unless defending themselves, their young, or their territory. Even the deadliest: the Black Widow refrains from attacking unless being squished. However, some do attack at random, as I was a few hours ago.

I was bitten by what I believe was either a sac spider, or a housing crab spider. Right now I'm not very sure as it was brief and I squished it the second I felt it. However, the bite has developed into a bit of what would appear to be a mosquito bite, however that is just the early stages of the sac spiders bite. It is fairly itchy.

So I have come to ask you, what is your take on the title that spiders have been given, and what causes you to think this?

And thus, I leave you with this:

How cute. :3

if a spider has strong venom it WILL affect humans. if it doesnt affect humans that means the venom is weak and is only intended to kill small things. there is no such venom that only affects certain animals. also, is this venom a nuerotoxin or a hemotoxin?

Here we get a lot of Araneus Diadematus, commonly known as Garden Spiders.

I've also seen many small black spiders with bright yellow markings that I've been unable to identify, but they don't seem to be poisonous.

ubertuna, I suggest you go to a site called "Whatsthatbug" All you need to do is give them the picture of the bug you found and a few details, Also Spiders count over there.

Small spiders don't freak me out very much, But BIG ones scare me a lot... Once when i was finished taking a bath and went out the bathroom a freaking huge spider was on the wall! It was like the size of my two fists put together i think... I freaked out and ran.

I recognize that, we get them here too. Ok, so you want to know what the name of it is? Its a Black and Yellow Garden Spider. What an original name. haha. Check this to see if I'm right. There are a lot of spiders that are similar to each other, but that seems like what it is.

Holy eff. I never get big spiders. I think the biggest spider I've seen is about the size of a quarter, and that terrified me. I'm glad I've done some research on them, it had decreased my arachnophobia, so I would probably not have cared if I had seen it today.
