Well, I made this thread because I think I know quite a bit about these two games, StarWars BattleFront 3 and StarWars: The Old Republic.
So people know, StarWars: TOR is an upcoming StarWars MMORPG ( Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game), by BioWare, that will be released for PC, and hopefully one of the first MMO's to come onto the PS3 in the near future. It is set in the Old Republic Era, 3'500 thousand years before the actual StarWars movies, and 300 hundred years after StarWars: Knights of the Old Republic game. You get to play as One of the two factions in the game, Sith or Jedi, five classes have been confirmed. If you want any information on this game you could either post here, or go on the main-site ( or wikipedia =P). There is also one AWESOME trailer of them game, which I think is better than all the movies put together, its called deceived and you should definitely see it. Links:
Now on to StarWars BattleFront 3, well I bet many people know about either SWBF 1 or 2, but people also want to know about 3, well all I can say is that its original founders, Free Radical, have gone into administration and stopped making the game, from what I have read on the net, the rights to the game have either gone to Pandemic or another producer, I can't remember the second but my best guess is with either BioWare or LucasArts. There is also some gameplay footage that has been leaked, you can go t you tube and I bet you could find it easy. Talk about it here if you feel like it, I can answer questions.
Hopefully Starwars Battle Front 3 will be better than Lord of the Rings Conquest...
Yeh, me too, the leaked footage I forgot to mention was of the early concept of the game, so no one really know who actually owns the game now, and if they are going to completely start over or not... So BioWare might not make it as bad as you think LOTR Conquest is.
It was just that Pandemic used their experience with SWBF as a marketing tool. I figured that mixed with LOTR mixed with next gen consoles meant it had to be epic... How wrong I was. It might as well have been a PS2 release or something.
Oh ok, fair enough i guess they couldn't do Ps2 though because of the fact that there are PSN downloads for the game and also better maultiplayer in it on the PS3 because the game is basically a Multiplayer only game...
Unfortunately seeing as the new knights of the old republic is an mmorpg I have a feeling that I won't like it.
It might require you to do loads of hours doing mindless boring one click actions (such as mining) and that doesn't appeal to me. The other factors would be the fact that being an mmorpg it will probably have a monthly subscription fee although I heard it might not. I also have no idea how they would make the game last online unless they make leveling extremely hard and introduce 50 or so skills.
I'd also like to see how they introduce storylines and boss battles. It always aggravates me when I kill a boss in a mmorpg just to have him respawn and another person to kill it. Makes me feel like my actions have no effect on the world around me.
In my opinion I just want what the last KOTORs had. It let me go evil or good, let me make my own choices and had an amazing storyline. I wouldn't want those sacrificed just for the MMORPG experience. In fact I'd love just to still be able to play it by myself but be able to choose to play as an mmorpg.
I have Star Wars Battlefront 2 and that game is amazing. Especially doing capture the flag or conquest. I stink at space conquest though. So I'm going to go with Battlefront.
I have been playing BattleFront 2 for years and I still whip out my ol' Xbox from time to time just to play a round or two. However, I have also been known to get out my Xbox and replay KotOR or KotOR 2. All three of those games are in my top 10 favorite games, and I am very excited for TOR and BF3. Needless to say, I'll be getting both
