Screamo is taking over the original rock,

I think popular screamo bands ( Underoath, Atreyu, ect) are not really scremo they just scream at some parts.

Yeh rock is just falling into sub-genres now, its not going to be dead in a very long time.

Rock isnt dead. Kamrad has it right (in my eyes). Rock wont be dead until some sort of wierd Techno beats are in style. Well when that happens Rock still wont be compeletly dead. Rock will always be around and most likely it will just go under for a little will.
As long as you have Rockband and Guitarhero really popular Rock will be around in some way.

Rock will never die. Rock is not in electric guitars, drum beats, and smooth lyrics and bass-lines. It rests in the soul of all who listen. All of the Rockers!

Like Fyrefox said, Rock is an attitude and a way of life and lies inside of people. Rock was born from the blues, with its expressive guitaring and emotional vocals. Though I believe after the 70's and 80's ended, rock was never the same, It didn't die and will never die.

Oo....
Joewelke you say that rock was an atitude, a way of life...but it's obvious that this atitude is already dead and burried...
Of course rocvk stil exists, in sub-genres, but the real atitude of 50's, 60's and 70's rock is truly dead, as the clothes, the dance, etc...
It has been replaced by Pop mainly, plus some sub styles, as Metal, Rap or Punk, but the entire majority of the bands we know now (I mean famous bands, not some obscure rock band of your friends...), aren't rock anymore...
